Volume 1 Chapter 28: The Second Test

[18 years old. You fought the 10th Soul Formation wooden puppet for more than a thousand years. After it escalated for more than ten thousand years, you decided to give up and let the puppet beat you up.]

[19 years old. After ten thousand years, the puppet still beat you to death.]

[20 years old. As you slowly fell into the hole of deprivation, loneliness, depression and self-emptiness, letting your consciousness slowly float in the infinite horizon of space and time, you looked around as you lost your memories and got trapped within the river of time.]

[You died!]

[Simulation completed. Please select one of the rewards below:]

[1. Qualities (Unavailable)]

[2. Attribute Points]

[3. Life Memories]

As the exchanges were still going, Fang Zhaoge looked speechlessly at the panel before him. So a year is equivalent to ten thousand years?

He truly wanted to meet Li Tianwen and let him know what pain meant. But if it actually happened, he would definitely be the one who got beat up…

"Just what the f*ck is this stupid formation made of? It could dilate time, restrict my strength, and amend whatever circumstances and climate my master wanted it to. Is my master a legendary formation expert?"

He was furious and impressed. However, only a madman would let his disciple spend thousands of years alone with f*cking flat-woody-ugly b*stards!

Fang Zhaoge felt like he only made a pointless decision, as he wouldn't be getting out of this place anytime soon anyway. Simulations only told him that he'd be f*cked continuously by loneliness and depression, which is not helping at all.

Even the Immortal Slayer aura couldn't do anything to the puppet. It has no soul, after all. As for the so-called condensed 'soul', to put it plainly, it's just a feature added when an expert reaches the Soul Formation realm.

It was also a pity that he had yet to use the I Also Want! quality. It's clearly a cheat, it could even be considered as a system of its own. However, these flat-woody-ugly b*stards were at it again, and he actually couldn't use it on these scraps, ugly-looking moving freaks.

Even after a thousand years of motonic exchanges, he still lost his composure as he realized these things.

Fang Zhaoge panted furiously as he cursed these puppets with all the words he learned. These guys are soulless yet have souls. You freak, little–

In the end, he could only stare at the choices and choose randomly, "Third!"

Since he'll be f*cked anyway, he wanted to try how it actually felt.

Then, he froze. Even the puppet stopped mid-air and looked at him puzzledly. This man clearly has been fighting vigorously, so why does he look like a vegetative now?

Even after hundreds of years, the man was still standing like a statue. The puppet only does what it was instructed and beats Fang Zhaoge up.

Just when it was about to deliver another blow, Fang Zhaoge abruptly opened his eyes and performed a strange series of movements. His legs moved chaotically, yet, if one observed it for a long time, they actually could see how they were orderly placed chaotically!

It was so chaotic the puppet actually slipped! It tried to keep up, but it just couldn't. As chaotic movements required extensive and extremely intricate comprehension and understanding regarding the said movements beforehand and the concept used behind its pattern!

As the puppet desperately tried to keep up, Fang Zhaoge's mind was on another plane of existence. He was almost prostrating himself to whatever brought him out of that nothingness.

Because he was actually stuck! Yes, by receiving the real-time memories from the system, he was stuck!

He couldn't get out, as if he was integrating himself with the mind within the simulation. To put it simply, he became the Fang Zhaoge within the simulation and almost got himself stuck in it…

And then, after like forever, he suddenly came out!

Of course, such a dangerous journey was without any gain, and he comprehended the infamous chaos! Not entirely, but partly. Perhaps not even a billion billion billion billionth of it…

However, such an insignificant comprehension could grant him inspiration to create a movement technique. It was when he realized this that he almost slapped himself until he looked like a donkey…

"Idiot, you could easily create your own technique in the mortal levels with your talent. Why do you even need simulations?"

And the movement technique… was utterly flabbergasting.

[Chaos and Order Convergence, First Eon (Level ??, Entry)]

Yes, it was to a degree where even the formation of his master cannot cover it. Fang Zhaoge looked at his face on the purple sheen of the puppet. Am I this talented? Am I this amazing? If so, then why the f*ck did I spend more than a thousand years being alone with these puppet b*stards?

"And why does the name sound so awesome? It was just a movement technique, yet even my strongest ability couldn't compare to it in terms of name…"

It was also real proof that the theory of existence above the Immortal World is indeed true. He looked above, where only an upperless ceiling was revealed. Just what exists up there?

He hasn't ascended yet, but he was already exposed to the beings and existence above it. And who knows just how high above the place the movement technique he just comprehends belongs to.

How about the beings in the Forbidden Zones? Where even a Senior who could easily rip space itself couldn't handle it? What about the realm, the Emperor Exalted, the white-haired Senior told him about?

So many things, yet so few clues. In the end, Fang Zhaoge simply appeared behind the purple puppet and ended its infinite lifespan, bringing this gruelling fight to an end.

And it was simply smooth sailing from there. It was simply a one-sided beating. From the Divine Soul puppets all the way to the King Gods. No matter who he fought against, he will always end it in less than a second.

He also discontinued simulations. Fortunately, the system was not too static, and it could be stopped. He will save them for later. Although he was left with only 19 simulations, depending on the situation, the gains from one of the simulations within the right circumstances could overwhelm qualities.

And right after a second had passed, an announcement from the panel above was made.

"100 out of 100 battles. Complete!"

"Progress: 100%."

"Second test, completed!"

"Duration: A year and a tenth."

"Grade: Error. Calculating a new rank…"

"Grade: Peerless. Reward: Error. Calculating a new reward…"

"Reward: a Peak Celestial-Grade Ice Phoenix Pill!"

Fang Zhaoge merely smiled wryly. He spent thousands of years in the mortal realm, yet, in the semi-immortal realm, he merely took a single second to single-handedly annihilate those puppets.

The contradiction was jarring, and he couldn't help but marvel. At the end of the road, everything ended up the same. They came from the same source, just with different paths.

Above, a simple, grey bottle of pill materialized and fell to his hand. He opened up the clog, and a mystical, ice-blue pill revealed itself. Fang Zhaoge took a second to inspect it before deciding to let it be and stored it in his storage ring.

He realized that he's not like those main characters who know what they're doing. If he carelessly consumed this pill he had no clue about, wouldn't he just send himself to death?

Especially since it was extremely contradicting with his Blazing Physique. Maybe his body will combust and he'll die a stupid death.

Fang Zhaoge calculated this all calmly, and he saw the iron gate being lifted up, letting him out of the place he's stuck in for more than a thousand years.

Now, while he may be 18, he's technically way older than Li Mengzhi. He's 1348 years old, while she's merely 520 years old. Not counting the countless years he spent in the darkness…

"Now I could use the word 'mere' before 500 years old. I feel like an ancestor."

As he laughed, the scenery around him soon changed, and the colosseum he cursed endlessly changed into a beautiful scenery with otherworldly mountains looming over the background and countless, blinding trees that were covered in starlight.

But that's not what shocked him the most. As he looked around, he noticed over seven obscure figures appearing right before his eyes, and as they emerged from the obscurity, he was so shocked that he stumbled despite his extreme composure.

They were actually cultivators! Just like him!

"Oh? It's eight people this time around!"

One of them, a seemingly energetic youth with bronze skin and easy-going attitude looked around contemplatively. Besides him, a lanky, intellectual youth with a saber on his back simply snorted.

"It won't be interesting if we're the only ones who found the inheritance of the Star Gallant, Sword God Chu! It's also a good way to investigate which talent has hidden themselves deeply!"

He said suspiciously as he looked at the emerging figures. An extremely feminine yet beautiful man simply waved his glimmering fan.

"Ah, it's the Scholar Zou Da. Bah, such a tasteless name, unlike mine!"

"You and your Spring Breeze Hall could only think about cooking in your room all day long. Why don't you go to the library and fill those substance-filled brains with actual knowledge?"

Scholar Zou Da simply snarked back sarcastically, and the feminine man twitched. But before anything could escalate, an innocent voice rang out.

"Oh oh oh! It's the famous second test of the inheritance the legendary Sword Gallant left us! Senior Sister, isn't this fascinating?"

"It's Star Gallant, Sword God Chu, little Mei."

A petite figure hopped around excitedly as a tall, dignified presence beside her simply pats her head and observed the vicinity. At these two people, the bickering of the previous three quieted down, and they quickly bowed down.

"We greet the Holy Maiden and the Defier!"

The dignified figure revealed itself. It was a black-haired woman with a white veil, merely revealing her prideful yet impeccable silver eyes. If an Immortal Fairy was described, perhaps most people would use her as a reference. She greeted them with a nod.

On the other hand, the petite figure, a girl with a lively atmosphere and long, purple hair, waved her hands excitedly, "Hey there!"

"Oh? The Holy Maiden and the Defier of the humans? I actually have the chance to meet these esteemed figures! Quite exciting…"

The Holy Maiden's eyes sharpened as the last two figures appeared in front of them all. A 12 feet tall, blue-skinned man with a pair of huge horns and a huge monster with an eye.

Turns out, the last two figures weren't humans. They're foreign races!

The bronze-skinned youth and the others gritted their teeth while the Holy Maiden grimaced. For two chances to be discovered by these two foreign races…

"What? Unhappy? Blame those old things for being so stupid to be tricked! Just who the hell would start an internal conflict just because his useless grandson wanted the wife of that invincible Sword Saint!"

The blue-skinned man laughed out loud. The one-eyed monster also laughed. It was rumbling. However, there's a hint of fear within the depth of their eyes.

The invincible Sword Saint was way too domineering!

The Holy Maiden indifferently replied with a piercing look, "Our matters have nothing to do with you Demons. Besides, that have nothing to do with discovering the inheritance. If you could win, then so be it!"

At this, the other youths, even the feminine man were burning. Their eyes shined in determination.

At the very back, Fang Zhaoge simply observed the situation. His face was strange. So that little girl was also a Defier?

Damn that's interesting!

Also, his master was actually quite shameless! Turns out, the tests are not his! His eye twitched, as expected of his master! But he was also touched, such a chance could be given away easily to him by his master.

Hm, maybe his master wasn't so bad.

"So, should I reveal myself or not?"

Unfortunately, before he could decide, a sudden light manifested in the middle of the extensive green meadow, and a black puppet with a simple white robe appeared amid the gathering of the group.

"Welcome to the next test, participants! The test will be: Comprehension! Listen to the instructions!"

As the puppet announced the test, everyone, including him, was transported to the middle of the meadow. And everyone was flabbergasted as the unseen eighth person innocently emerged from the bushes. Only the petite girl reacted differently.

"Wow! Senior Brother, you're so handsome!"

The long purple-haired little lady ran to him as her mystical eyes were filled with stars. Fang Zhaoge scratched his cheek.

"Hello."

"Hello my damn ass!"

The bronze-skinned youth twitched. Yeah, hello, that's the right word to explain your sudden appearance. Alright, just let me get something out of you for a moment…
