The pictures.

After the class was over, every student started preparing to go out and Lara quickly took out her phone again, but before she could even switch on her phone screen, a hand grabbed it and her head jerked upwards ready to insult whoever it was, but any argument died on her tongue as she met Kyle's hardened gaze.

"I want to see you in my office. Now," he said in all seriousness, placing the phone screen-down on her desk and walking away. For a moment, Lara sat there frozen in place, then she quickly shoved her books in her bag and rushed after him. His tone surprised her because he had always seemed kind and polite, and her mind struggled to think of whatever it was that changed his mood.

When she reached his office, she took in a deep breath to try and ease her nerves, then she raised her hand to knock on the door. Her heart raced as she waited for permission to get in, but nothing ever came up. She was about to knock again when the door suddenly opened, and swifter than her eyes could follow, Lara was harshly pulled into the office and shoved up against the door.

Her heart now hammering inside her chest, Lara looked up at Kyle's hazel eyes and hers widened when she saw the anger in them. What was he angry about?

"Are you dating Maurice?" He asked coldly and Lara swallowed, her eyes never leaving his. Kyle had a tight grip on her arm, but she didn't feel the pain until her mind registered the question and a look of confusion crossed her face, followed by panic.

Why would he ask about Maurice? How did he even know Maurice for fucks sake? And why was he acting so… violent? Wait… did the previous Lara have a thing with this teacher?

At the last thought, Lara's eyes widened even more and she stared up at Kyle incredulously. Kyle was starting to get impatient because she hadn't answered his question yet, and too many emotions crossed her brown eyes, making it hard for him to figure out what was going through her head.

"Amswer me!" He demanded menacingly and Lara shivered involuntarily. She tried to jerk her arm away from his vice like grip, but Kyle only tightened his hold on her, jerking her body closer to his.

"Stop. You're hurting me," she cried out as she struggled against him to no avail.

Their bodies were now inches apart and she could feel the warmth radiating from him as his chest rose and fell, but what she was more aware of was the menacing look in his eyes and the raw anger conveyed by his clenched jaw. Shit. This was serious.

"Tell me, Lara. Is there anything going on between you and Maurice?" He asked again, but this time his voice lowered to a plea and his eyes closed, then opened and stared directly into hers and Lara almost forgot how to breathe. The intensity behind those eyes was something that both scared and intrigued Lara.

Gulping softly, she eased herself from his firm hold and this time he let her. "No, why would you even think that? Maurice is my bodyguard and there's nothing between us," she declared firmly, lying through her teeth because she just couldn't bring herself to tell him the truth.

Her eyes never left his to add conviction to the lie but Kyle didn't seem a bit convinced as he continued staring at her with the same intensity.

"What about the pictures?" He asked emotionlessly and Lara's pulse picked up it's pace again.

"What pictures?"

Kyle grabbed her phone from her hand and held out the screen for her to unlock. Lara complied hesitantly because she didn't think she had a choice. Kyle opened her Instagram and went directly to the search icon, typing the name Lara Kent. Immediately after, her phone buzzed with all kinds of notifications and the photos and even videos of her and Maurice popped up on the screen. Kyle's jaw clenched again as he watched the pictures and the comments, then he held out the phone for Lara to see.

Reluctantly, Lara stared into his eyes then took the phone from him, and her eyebrows shot to her hairline when she saw all the hype about her and Maurice from the previous day. There were all kinds of comments and stickers, saying what a beautiful couple they made together.

If not for the imposing figure of Kyle and his piercing gaze at her, Lara would have smiled, but she pressed her lips together and forced a serious expression.

"These are from yesterday when he took me shopping! He's my fucking bodyguard, okay? And I didn't even know people were taking pictures!" This time she allowed her temper to show by raising her voice a little bit, and sure enough, it had an immediate effect on Kyle.

He stepped back, his palm running across his face while the other hand raked through his hair, stopping at the back of his neck.

He stared at her, eyes now calmer and jaw no longer clenched. It was obvious that he really believed her, and he even felt guilty for shouting at her.

"God, Lara," he dropped his hands and stepped closer to her. "I'm so sorry for lashing out at you. I just… I don't know… flipped the minute I saw all those pictures and how people seemed excited about it."

His words caught her off guard and she stood there motionless. Her lips parted to say something, but no words came out.

"I'm sorry, okay? I really didn't mean to yell at you," his voice was soft and gentle and his eyes pleaded with her. The apology was really sincere, which Lara didn't know how to handle.

Her gaze subconsciously moved to his lips and her throat bobbed up and down as she swallowed softly. Everything seemed to fade away around them and for the first time she became aware of how close their bodies were, and the muscle beneath his shirt where the top buttons were open.

Her eyes moved back to stare into his, and the breath got knocked out of her lungs when she saw the hunger in them. Her mouth suddenly felt dry and her heart raced, desire pulsing through her veins as she started moving closer to him.

Closer and closer and closer, until their lips were a breath away. Their rapid breaths mixed in the air and Lara could feel it caressing her face. She could also smell his musky scent which invaded her senses.

Seemingly following raw instinct, Kyle leaned his head down and Lara raised her head. Their noses touched and their breaths grew more ragged, until she finally felt the warm and soft texture of his lips pressing against hers in a gentle kiss.

Lara's eyes closed involuntarily and Kyle's hands went around her body as he pulled her closer, then pressed his lips firmer against hers. His tongue licked her bottom lip, silently coaxing and urging her to open up for him and Lara readily complied, parting her lips to let him claim her mouth.

They were so lost in the moment that they forgot where they were and the consequences of their actions, until the door burst open and the magical trance was finally broken.

"Oh?" A surprised voice came from the door as they broke apart, Kyle heading towards his desk and Lara just standing there in a daze.
