Parvati reached out and shook Thane's hand with a smile and quickly followed Padma who glanced away as Thane met her eyes, "N-Nice to meet you as well."

"So tell us Thane what House do you hope to be sorted into?" Parvati asked before an awkward silence could settle in, "Personally I think I would make an excellent Gryffindor

"I'm sorry, but I don't have the slightest clue what you're talking about." Thane responded as he spread his hands helplessly, "I've only known about the Wizarding world for…two days give or take."

"You're a muggle born?" Parvati asked in disbelief to which Thane nodded "Then how the hell is your aura control better than mine?"

"You can't expect to improve at something if you spend all your time shopping, dear sister," Padma teased Parvati who shot her a rueful glare in return.

"Well the truth is, I've known magic exists for as long as I could remember. I just believed it was exceedingly rare, never would I have imagined that there was an entire society full of people like me," Thane admitted as his emerald eyes seemed to shine, "To be honest it all feels like a dream that I could wake up from at any second."

Padma and Parvati fell silent as they listened to Thane and the naked passion in his voice which was hard not to be inspired by. Realizing he had gone off on a tangent, Thane coughed as a slight blush spread across his cheeks, "Sorry about that, you were saying something about Houses Parvati?"

Blinking at her name Parvati was lost for a second before she recovered, "Oh, yes the Houses! So every student at Hogwarts during their first year is sorted into one of four houses. Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff or Slytherin, each named after one of the founders of Hogwarts."

"Sorted? It's not random?" Thane asked to which Parvati shook her head.

"Nope, each house has a different characteristic associated with it. Gryffindor is for the determined and brave, Ravenclaw is for the intelligent and wise, Hufflepuffs are hard working and loyal." Parvati listed while holding out her fingers

"What about Slytherin?" Thane asked.

Parvati grunted, "Well supposedly it's for the ambitious and cunning, but there is also a hidden requirement that you need to be pure blood so don't get your hopes up."

"For once my sister is right, but don't feel too disappointed, that house is just a bunch of rich pureblood supremacist assholes who gang up on anyone they think is beneath them." Padma added with a friendly smile which Thane returned in kind.

"So after hearing that, what house do you think would be a good fit for you?" Parvati asked Thane while staring at him with her dark brown eyes.

Going silent as he thought it over Thane could only shrug, "I don't know, I would like to think I'm all of those things. Is there some kind of test I could take and get an answer?"

Parvati grinned, "Sort of, apparently they put a talking hat on your head and it tells you what house you're in."

At first Thane thought she was joking but seeing the look on her face he realized it was the truth, "Really, how does that work?"

"Magic," Padma answered with a grin, making Thane chuckle.

For the next hour or so Thane passed the time talking with Padma and Parvati enjoying their company. They were only interrupted once when a bushy haired girl barged in on their conversation asking if they had seen a pet toad. After that they fell into a comfortable silence and Thane went back to reading.

Sometime later an ear splitting whistle broke Thane's concentration and he looked up from his grimoire as the train began to decelerate.

"Looks like we're here!" Parvati said gleefully as she jumped up to her feet, "Come on lazy we need to get our stuff."

Padma rolled her eyes at her sister's name calling but stood up nonetheless before turning to face Thane, "It was nice meeting you Thane, I hope we can talk more."

Parvati grabbed her sister by the arm and started pulling her towards the door, "We're going to the same school of course you guys are going to talk again. Now stop flirting, it's almost painful."

Padma's cheeks turned a bright red as her head whipped around to glare at Parvati, "What?! I wasn't!"

"Bye Thane!" Parvati said with a wink as she dragged Padma out of the booth and out of sight.

Staring at the space where the two sisters had stood Thane wondered what just happened when a hiss echoed from within his robes, "W-what?! No they're not my mates, I just met them. And who refers to their significant other as a mate?"

Ingrid let out another shot hiss in response making Thane roll his eyes as he stood up, "No I don't want your dating advice, reptiles aren't exactly known for their emotional maturity. And just exactly how old are you, for you have dating experience?"

Ingrid hissed again as Thane put away his grimoire into the leather satchel strapped across his body, "Oh and now I'm rude for asking your age? You've got some nerve, you know that?"

This time Ingrid didn't bother to respond and Thane was able to leave the train in peace. Stepping onto the platform Thane wondered where he was supposed to go in the middle of all the chaos of people and luggage when a booming voice echoed through the air.

"First years over here!"

Thane looked over to see a giant of a man with a mane of long brown hair and an equally impressive beard herding people into a group.

Moving over Thane joined the quickly growing crowd and although he tried to look for Padmna and Parvati he couldn't spot them among the clump of people.

"Alright that should be everyone, follow me students!" The towering man's booming voice rang out once more before he turned around and walked off the platform.
