Bouquet

When Adrian stopped, Arella too, stopped. She turned around and saw hesitation floating in his eyes.

A blue flame? So he was not mistaken earlier in the laboratory. He did see a blue flame, and before today, he did not know the form of her healing powers. So, what he saw was no illusion. It really happened. Thoughts swirled in his mind.

Arella looked at his static form quietly. So far, only once had she seen his hesitating nature. That was on the day he asked for the ruby before going on the expedition. But today, what was he hesitating about?

She unconsciously tightened her hold around his hand to provide some comfort.

Adrian was hesitating whether he should share what he saw with her or not. Uncertainty flickered his eyes. In the end, he decided to reveal whatever he saw, however unscientific it sounded.

He opened his mouth and told her.

"Earlier, while you were treating me, I saw the blue flame." He uttered calmly.

Arella was surprised because only healers at higher levels could make their healing powers visible to the naked eye. But this should not be something to hesitate about, right?

Arella waited patiently for him to speak more.

"And I also saw the blue flame jumping from your fingertip to my wound without any physical contact," Adrian added slowly.

Arella listened quietly. She found it unbelievable and wanted to laugh it off, but Adrian's serious face did not give her any chance. It was not like she did not believe him, but it was a little far fetched.

Every healer had to make a physical touch in order to heal. Though she wanted to believe, years of education and experience stopped her from doing so.

Her thumb gently moved in circles on his stiff hand, providing him comfort and solace.

"Maybe it is because we are soul companions?" She hesitantly voiced.

"Hmm. maybe." Adrian resumed walking, and Arella followed closely.

He could not exactly put into words how he felt when she healed him. It was like the healing blue flame longed to jump. It felt like it was a part of his own healing powers. Her power felt extremely familiar to him as if it was his own.

Maybe it really was because they were soul mates? He was not sure, but at present nothing else explained it better than this.

When they reached the villa, it was late at night. They were glad that they had eaten beforehand. And true to Adrian's words, after seeing all that blood, she really did not feel like eating anything.

She felt a pang of exhaustion from using her powers. So, they changed and went straight to bed.

While she was in his arms, she mumbled quietly. Adrian had to tilt his head, bringing his ear closer to her soft lips in order to decipher the words.

"What about our three times?" Arella questioned slowly.

'She was so exhausted and had her eyes closed but still thought of it?' Adrian felt bemused. He looked at the frown on her face and raised his hand to smoothen it lightly.

"Let us carry forward it to tomorrow, okay?" He whispered quietly, so as to not disturb her beauty sleep.

"Hmm," she nasally responded. The frown on her face disappeared, and she hid her face in his chest, sleeping soundly.

The next day, Arella woke up to an empty bed. It was a little late. Adrian had already gone to work.

When she made her way to the breakfast area, she found Andrew sitting leisurely in the living room. Such a sight had become normal to her now.

Andrew saw her coming downstairs and greeted her brightly. Then, he gave her a big bouquet of rare flowers.

Suddenly presented with such a huge bouquet which covered half of her height, she was dumbstruck.

She did not accept it. Instead, she looked at Andrew with eyes full of questions.

"Madam, this is from Sir." Andrew politely answered.

"Oh." Listening that it was from her husband, she raised her hand and tried to accept it, but it was too huge! She looked like a child holding things bigger than her stature.

It smelt pleasant. The flowers were fresh, and some still had sparkles of dew on the soft petals. It was aesthetically pleasing. Her senses felt extremely happy, and her core wanted to jump up and down because of the bouquet.

Technically, it was the second gift from Adrian. The first was the ruby necklace. She hugged the huge bouquet and swayed a little because of its heaviness.

Andrew tried to take the bouquet back, but Arella refused with a flat face. With the huge bouquet in her arms blocking her eyes, she stumbled her way to the bedroom. She successfully managed to place it near the bed and admired it for a while.

She scanned it and stored its details in digital form. Then, she sent a sweet thank you note to Adrian. This bouquet was a pleasant surprise. She did not know that he had it in him to follow the old school routines!

Adrian was a man of action, so she never expected such gestures. But that does not mean that she did not like it. She liked it a lot, and a slight smile appeared on her face. Her mood suddenly soared to new heights.

She hopped and hummed, and she made her way to the breakfast area once again. Andrew once again stood up and presented another smaller, yet beautiful bouquet to her.

Happily smiling, Arella accepted it without any questions. She was confused. Adrian had not given her even one bouquet to date, and now there are two of them?

She searched her mind thoroughly. No, it was not their anniversary or any other important day. It was just another regular day. Then why was he so generous to give bouquets today?

She wondered where to keep this bouquet. Should it be kept in the bed room like the previous one? No, this was smaller and could be easily carried around. She decided to carry it with herself. As she happily indulged in her thoughts, Andrew's voice brought her back to reality.

"Madam, this bouquet is from Brian," Andrew added belatedly.
