Ch. 3 Sneak In

"You said you wouldn't do what I thought. But considering your true character, you wouldn't sit idly by, right?" accused Aileen of hitting the mark.

Guin couldn't answer and could only scratch the nape of her neck. I will do it secretly: there's no way I could do something stupid and make them hunt me so easily.

Of course, Guin didn't dare to say it because she feared Aileen would get even more worried. Not wanting her friend to notice the plan in her mind, Guin immediately looked away from Aileen and looked back at the guests carefully.

"Don't worry. I promise I will be a good and sweet child. So, enjoy this party, okay? After all, this is your precious debut moment. Who knows, you might catch the attention of one of the handsome Fae princes or the warriors around the corner there."

Aileen turned to where Guin was looking, where the young men were gathering and talking. They were handsome, but not attractive enough for Aileen's taste.

"Are you feeling better?" Guin asked casually as she glanced at Aileen whose gaze continued to observe the guests.

"A little."

"That's good then. I'll go first," declared Guin, which immediately caught Aileen's attention.

"Where are you going?" Aileen's worry arose again on her beautiful face.

"Nature calls. I'll go back for a moment, then join you." Guin reasoned as she gently patted the back of Aileen's hand, which was gripping her tightly. Still, with a look and a suspicious frown, Aileen finally let go of Guin, and Guin quickly slipped out to find the restroom.

As soon as Guin entered one of the toilet cabins, she sat on the toilet seat and closed her eyes. A ball of white light emerged from her chest, floating upwards until it slipped out of the window above the toilet cubicle she was in. The ball of light traced the balcony until it found its destination and transformed into a small transparent fox cub.

No one would be able to see or be aware of the cub's presence because currently, Guin was in the form of a shadow form. That way, she could roam freely without being caught.

Guin entered a bright room and saw several important figures gathered there. They were none other than the higher-ups from several different realms. Guin didn't know most of them, but at least she knew what races the higher-ups gathered in this room came from.

"Where is the Alpha King? It's unusual for him to be late." Just as the holy priest of the Holy Temple asked about the Alpha's arrival, the door to the room opened. A handsome white hair man appeared.

He must be the Alpha king, Guin thought very confidently, remembering that only the Alpha king had white fur when he changed form.

"Alpha, what took you so long? I thought you would be tempted to flirt with some girls," expressed one of the higher-ups; he was well-known for throwing charming smiles and sweet words with women. A disgusting perverted smile began to appear on his annoying face.

"Human girls are indeed captivating. It's no wonder that many werewolf clans often come to the Unbound Havens to look for a spouse," continued the Elf king with a bald head and a giant body size.

'So what if a werewolf is looking for a human partner? After all, elves, faeries, and vampires also prefer to choose humans as their partners,' Guin sarcastically expressed in her heart as she gave a mocking look at the higher-ups.

Humans did not have strength; they were weak. However, they possessed creativity and brilliant ideas to advance the world. Humans were also the ones who had the intelligence to build buildings and make tools for daily needs.

The other races' residences would have been huts or caves without the human's help. Other nations would never know such things as spoons, cupboards, or beds.

Sadly, the leaders of other nations enjoyed looking down on humans, even though they really need human creativity and intelligence. Well, Guin herself didn't really like humans either. However, at least she never looked down on them.

"I hope you won't cause any trouble tonight because all humans are under the protection of our clan," warned the Alpha king a little kindly while emphasizing his words to alert the higher-ups of other nations. The aura of intimidation grew so strong that it reached Guin, who was quite far from the man.

This Alpha King had a good point! Praised Guin in delight. Calmly, Guin began to lie down on the floor while still sharpening her hearing to absorb all the secrets she could get from this meeting.

This was Guin's main goal since she knew the higher-ups would hold a short meeting before starting the main event. She hoped to find an important clue regarding the massacre that befell her clan through the discussions of these officials.

"Currently, the situation in the Eternal Kingdom is going well―the degraded vampires are also under control. However, as we all know, the level of sanity of degraded vampires only lasts for a short time; they can go crazy any minute. The only way to prevent their frenzy state is to kill and burn them all," reported one of the high-ranking vampires.

"That is indeed the best solution," King Alpha agreed, but still thinking about the best way of this issue. "What about mutated ones?"

"That..." one of the higher-ups was hesitant to answer. "There is no longer any news about them, and it seems that since the return of Ares, the mutant's creator has decided to hide."

The Alpha King snorted sinisterly, "Let him hide because he won't be able to do it anymore once my brother and I act. What about other cases?"

The higher-ups started discussing other matters, which became more and more boring as time went on. Guin was so bored, that she yawned widely and almost fell asleep.

A few moments passed until Guin felt her shadow form begin to fade, a sign that her time was running out and she had to return to her physical body. The cub stood up, intending to return. However, suddenly, one of the higher-ups said something that succeeded in preventing her from leaving.

"What about the tragedy that befell the fox clan ten years ago?"

'Finally, they discussed the massacre of my family!' Roared Guin in her heart. She could feel her heartbeat pounding; it felt like it was hurting her chest as she waited for the Alpha King's answer. Guin hoped that the Alpha was willing to investigate the case and help her find the main mastermind behind the massacre of the fox clan.

However, Guin's heart was broken into pieces when she heard the unhesitating and full of emphasis came out of the Alpha's mouth. "It's time we put an end to that investigation."
