Once inside the SUV, I’m strapped up, and I turn to her. “Ryan and I made a bet in order for us to be rekindled. If I can sneak past Roger, he’ll face silent treatment for a whole two days. If not, then I’ll forgive.” She laughs, and I feel relieved that she believes me and even more grateful that she doesn’t know about the Isabelle incident. It's not easy lying to someone who trusts you, but on the bright side, if we get caught, I'll take all the blame.
It's not like I'd get punished as badly as Lynda would.
"Ryan,” I say, succeeding in catching his attention from aimlessly staring out of space. He analyzes me first, and I chuckle, letting him know I’m fine.
“I just wanted to ask if you can preorder some fries for me and a banana smoothie with a jelly sandwich. Oh, and a glazed donut.” I smile, batting my eyelashes lightly. “Just a little snack,” he chuckles, pulling me in for a kiss and taking me by surprise.
