Chapter 27

Scarlet Johnson was in a political family. The family have played political roles for many generations. Her grandfather had just retired from the state council whereas her father now served as an influential representative in the Cabinet. She was the proud daughter of the Johnson family who was born with a sliver spoon in her mouth.

She had the highest status in the Scrollania College.

And her hatred for illegitimate children was akin to vampire's hate for garlic. She detested hearing the words "illegitimate children", let alone seeing or knowing them in person.

That was because after her mother died of illness on the previous year, her father took in a mother and daughter. The girl was named Eva Johnson, and was only half a year younger than her!

No one could possibly accept that, let alone Scarlet who was a shot-tempered person. Scarlet had been fighting against her father so that he wouldn't marry Eva's mother. Since then, Scarlet had disgusted illegitimate daughter. Everyone in the Scrollania College was well aware of that.

Scarlet narrowed her eyes and studied Sara, "Do you feel disrespected?"

Before Sara could respond, Scarlet continued, "Even if you do feel that way, there's nothing you can do about it." She smiled viciously, "You should blame your mother. Why did she destroy someone else's family?"

Scarlet suddenly raised her head, "Excuse me."

Scarlet looked at her calmly.

Sara sounded polite and respectful, without a hint of aggression. It was a gentle tone, but there was a sense of sheer stubbornness in it, "I can't choose my fate but at least I get to choose how to live my life."

She looked at Scarlet fearlessly, "I don't blame my mother because I know she was deceived."

William's face clouded. Was Sara trying to imply that Yen had deceived an innocent little girl?

William stood up and smiled to Scarlet, "Sorry Scarlet, I hope you'll forgive my sister."

Scarlet said, "You're much more sensible than your sister."

William didn't know what Scarlet meant. She said, "Although Sara and I have different mothers, she is still my biological sister. Scarlet, why don't..."

Seeing William plead for Sara, the entire class felt even more sorry for William while their hatred and disgust toward Sara grew stronger.

Madam Percy quickly interfered, "Scarlet, that's enough. She isn't going to sit with you anyway."

Scarlet smiled.

Freya waved at Sara and gestured for her to sit beside her. Sara smiled at Freya and graciously sit down beside her.

Madam Percy breathed a sigh of relief and said, "Alright, let's get started with the morning reading session."

Freya covered her face with a book and whispered to Sara, "Maybe you should transfer to another class. I'm sure Scarlet would not let you off the hook so easily."

Sara was touched by Freya's kindness, "...I'm an illegitimate daughter. Don't you hate me?"

Freya frowned and replied, "I do dislike illegitimate daughter. But you know how it's like in the family like ours, we marry for personal benefits. Hence, affairs and illegitimate children are fairly common. However..." Freya smiled at Sara before continuing, "However, I don't think you're that kind of person. Judging by the way you behave, I'm sure your mom isn't someone who would sell herself off for power."

Sara was touched by her words, no one had ever said that before. Freya's words were like a bottle of liquor in the harsh winter, it was strong that she felt like crying.

Sara lowered her head, "Was Scarlet Johnson the girl just now?"

Freya nodded and briefly told Sara about what had happened in Scarlet's family. She continued, "That's why she hates illegitimate children so much. Most importantly, she had a childhood fiance whom she liked a lot. However, the boy wanted to end the relationship after Eva got into the Johnson family... Scarlet would even want to kill Eva."

"...Poor girl." Sara suddenly said.

Freya said, "Yes, but don't say that in front of her. She is very prideful."

Sara agreed.

Freya asked, "You really should consider transferring to another class. If you stay in Class One, she will definitely give you trouble."

"...I'll see." Sara did not want to trouble Hank or Bella anymore. She was afraid she would not be able to return the favors.

"So Sara, what's your major?"

Sara flashed with a smile, "Alternative medicine."

Scrollania College offered unique and flexible courses, so the students tend to be a little more laid back. They looked as if they were not awake, Freya said that was the case for all orientation classes.

The first lesson was over. Before Sara could keep her books, William asked, "Sara, why didn't you tell me that you were coming to school today?"

Freya, being the clueless girl that she was, assumed that Sara and William were on good terms and immediately answered, "My cousin drove her here."

William's eyes darkened.

Before coming to Scrollania College, Lilly Miller had got some information for William. Hence, she knew who Freya was as well as Freya's cousin.

Upon thinking that Sara had Master Bishop's favor, William got upset.

Despite Lilly's reassurance that Master Bishop was only kind to Sara because she was his new plaything and that he would dispose of her once he grew tired of her, William was still envious of Sara.

William praised Sara, "Sara, your outfit is so nice. I've never seen you wear them before."

Sara had picked her clothes randornly from her wardrobe, it was just a casual t-shirt and a pair of jeans, though the logo on her t- shirt wasn't usual.

In fact, the outfit was sold at a six-digit price on the official website.

Freya glanced at Sara and exclaimed, "I saw this outfit in store not long ago. It's very pretty but I didn't have enough allowance lately so I didn't buy it."

William smiled and said, "Sara, our parents haven't been giving you many allowances lately. If you don't have enough money to buy clothes, I don't mind lending you some."

Freya asked, "How much allowance do you get in a month?"

"About twenty to thirty thousand dollars, my family is not as rich as you."

Freya was surprised, "Twenty to thirty thousand dollars?"

That was not even half of the price of Sara's outfit.

Nina suddenly chimed in, "Sara, right? I'm curious. The outfit was too expensive even for Freya. How could you be able to afford it when your allowance is only twenty to thirty thousand dollars a month?
