After Nina felt the cold sweat on her back, she quickly returned to her seat without saying a word.
Scarlet glanced at Sara and sneered.
During class, Alex was sleeping on the desk. Meanwhile, Sara ignored him and paid attention to the class. However, their seats were at the very corner. There was also a tall boy sitting in front of Sara, blocking her view of the blackboard.
But that was tolerable.
Alex woke up on the third lesson, he looked at Sara beside to him and called out to the two students sitting in front, "Hey."
The two of them felt a chill down their spine.
The tall boy who was sitting in front of Sara turned around, "Alex, what's the matter?"
Alex propped his chin and said, "I have something to talk to you."
The boy was close to tears. "...Anything for you, Alex!"
Alex smiled, "Alright, I want you to swap seats with Freya."
"Huh?" The boy was a little confused but he did not question any futher. Instead, he quickly got up to and spoke to Freya.
If it was in the past, Freya wouldn't have had agreed to it for sure. However, now that Sara was sitting beside Alex, she was worried. Hence, she agreed and swapped seats with that boy.
Seeing someone she was familiar with sitting in front of her, and she could finally have a clear view of the board, Sara couldn't help smiling.
Alex's gaze was a little darkened. No one could tell what he was thinking. He didn't continue to speak. He took out his phone and began to play games.
Sara started to take a shine to Alex. She took a quick look at his phone screen and whispered, "Oh, you are playing this too?"
Alex raised his eyebrow. Freya shouted in her heart, "Oh no. Alex hates being interrupted when he was doing something."
Who knew Alex replied calmly, "You play it too?"
Sara shook her head. She didn't have time for games as she was once expected to do the chores and serve William and Lilly after returning home. She barely had time for assignments, let alone playing games. She knew the game because she had seen the boys in the former school play it.
Alex asked, "Do you want to learn?" Sara said, "But I can't play it on my phone."
Sara was using an old phone. It didn't have any other features except for answering phone calls. It was William who had asked Sara to get one so that she could order Sara around whenever she needed to at her convenience.
Freya rested her head on Sara's desk and asked, "Can't play it on your phone? That's impossible. I thought most smart phones offered games these days."
Sara searched for her phone in the bag and showed it to Freya.
Freya was shocked, "It's practically an antique already, Oh my god!"
Sara smiled, "As long as it can answer calls."
Freya wanted to ask further but feared that it might be inappropriate. After all, being an illegitimate daughter was a sensitive topic for Sara. She couldn't dig up people's wounds for the sake of her curiosity. Instead, Freya said, "I've just changed a new phone. I only used the old one for a month. You can have it and we can play games together. That way, the phone will be put to good use too."
Sara knew Freya was being generous. She probably would buy a new phone for her, "It's fine, I don't play games anyway."
Freya chuckled, "Right. A hard-working student like you must be spending your time on studying everyday."
Alex glanced at Sara, lost in thoughts. He just scored a quadra kill in his game and threw his phone back into the drawer.
Freya was in fact not familiar with Alex. She had always feared of him. After sitting closer to him, she found him less scary. Hence, she asked, "Alex, are you going to the cafeteria for lunch today?" Scrollania College had great facilities. It had two cafeterias that were situated in a building of their own. It provided students with a variety of food and a pleasant environment. Most students would have their lunch at the cafeteria though a handful of others would opt to return home instead.
Alex replied, "Yes."
Freya said, "Let's go together then."
Freya was mainly worried that if she were to go to the cafeteria with Sara alone, Scarlet would pick up on them. If they were to go with Alex, Scarlet would just keep her distance.
Alex smiled lazily, "Sure."
Freya was relieved.
Scrollania College didn't have many students and the cafeteria was spacious, so students hardly had to queue. Freya was craving for some fried rice, Sara was fine with anything and Alex didn't have any preference either, so the three of them made their way to the ordering counter.
Along the way, Sara could feel people were pointing at and gossiping about her. Fortunately, she was used to it so she didn't feel too upset.
From a distance, Sara saw William was talking to Scarlet at the Western cuisine section, Scarlet smiled a little.
William had always been an outgoing person. She seemed to be in a good relationship with Scarlet.
Sara turned and whispered to Freya, "Freya, you're being with me... Wouldn't they isolate you?"
Freya replied, "Of course they would. It's okay, they wouldn't dare to offend me."
Sara thought, "I guess so... Freya is Assistant Pack's cousin after all."
Nina had severely humiliated herself that day. Since she couldn't throw a tantrum in front of Alex's face, she could only do it behind his back. She threw the plate to the ground, "No wonder she is an illegitimate daughter! She's like a sl*t! She even let Alex speak up for her!"
William comforted her, "...Nina, don't be angry. That's just the way my sister is."
Nina said, "Only you could tolerate it! You must have suffered so much for years, and you even had to put up with it!"
William smiled grudgingly, "It's not a big deal. She's my younger sister after all. I had to give in sometimes."
Nina replied angrily, "Give in!? People like her doesn't deserve it! Just look at what happened to Eva and Scarlet!"
Scarlet slammed the table with the sliver fork in her hand.
Nina quickly apologized, "Sorry Scarlet! I shouldn't have said that!"
Scarlet replied indifferently, "That's enough.
Let's eat." Nina asked in a low voice, "Scarlet, are we really going to let the illegitimate daughter continue being so smug?!"
Scarlet was cutting the steak on her plate. There was no expression on her delicate face, "Let's give it two days and see Alex's attitude toward her."
Although Nina wasn't too happy with the idea, she nodded.
William said, "By the way, why is Simon absent today?"
Nina had a huge crush on Simon. She was uncomfortable as soon as she heard William mention his name. She looked at William and said, "How do you know Simon?"
William smiled, "He used to be a student at University. I heard that he is in our class. I was curious since I didn't see him today."
