CHAPTER EIGHTEEN

I dashed down the trail, paws stretching as far as they could. Go, go, go! I flew down the trail and burst into camp. Twolegs. Then, they all simultaneously looked at me. I heard one say, "That's the cat we caught on camera."

Oooooops. I should have expected cameras. And of course, my dazzling white coat made me even easier to see. hallelujah. If I go down, I go down with a bang. "Everyone, scatter!" I said, and then wasted no time springing at the human, scratching at the poor dude's eyes. At least they hadn't called animal control, just some poor dude who had been looking forward to a normal day at his desk job. A few scratches and the human jolted away, probably because of fear of rabies, which was a valid concern. I hissed and jumped onto the nearest metal wire cage, where 5 cats were shoved into the same spot. Easy enough, I clawed open the latch. all 5 sprinted out, but I was brutally grabbed my the neck. I spun to see a scientist plunging another syringe of sedative into my fur.

Just my luck, too. "Hey! Shadow! Quick, before I pass out. There's a black spring. Find it, and make sure to drink from it, and then make me drink from it." I whispered to Shadow, who had also been picked up by the humans but not asleep. Grand finale! I erupted into many (fake) spasms and seizures, and the human dropped me. I dashed over and bit a human's leg, and they also dropped Shadow in surprise. My legs buckled as I fell asleep, and the humans ran away with one final hiss from the human-turned-cat.

And with that, I fell asleep.
