Something in the Snow

The tracks of the leather boots created patterned potholes along a path hugged by a mass of snowflakes. The road looked smooth, but there were potholes and gravel underneath. Cart passengers must disembark to reduce the burden on the cows.

The cows are fat, almost like elephants. Winter is no big deal for them. They walked carefully towards the sun.

Keir was at the front, some distance from the group. The snow got thicker the further they walked. Luckily, there was no rain this morning.

He was facing the back. Other than the warriors, the rest of the group didn't know this destination. They were just told to keep a secret and take care of themselves.

"I'm getting frantic as I approach Seraphim," he complained and took a breath.

Seraphim was a plain in the mountains. Cliffs surrounded its kingdom. Usable roads could be counted. All of it was properly guarded.

"Group two has already left. Hopefully, they won't get caught in the blizzard."
