Little Miss and the Wolf

She swung her right leg. Her left leg remained still and was wrapped in a white cloth. A cushion supported it against the back of the chair leg.

The embers in the fireplace were almost gone. The soup pot above it was overflowing. Some of the soup slid onto the embers.

Wan entered the living room. He rushed to the fireplace to move the iron pot. He removed the lid. He smiled as he smelled the fragrant meat.

Elestria sat at the dining table. Her legs were still swinging. She watched the soup being poured into the bowl in front of her. There were pieces of carrot and potato in it.

"Be careful, it's still hot," Wan said. He poured some soup into his bowl as well.

Wan returned the pot to the fireplace. He came back with two wooden spoons.

Elestria took the spoons, staring at them. She'd been using it for seven days. The sensation of the wood was a little strange when it came into contact with her teeth.
