Liuliu set aside a few cakes for her mother-in-law, wrapped up the rest to take along as dry rations. She estimated it'd take a day to make the trip and return, considering the mountain she was heading to didn't seem too distant or too high. If they left early in the morning, they should be back by afternoon.
"Sister-in-law, the cakes you made are so delicious. Mom, yours however, are awful." Xiaoquan was the kind of child who spoke bluntly, without any consideration for the feelings of others.
Seeing her mother-in-law's uncomfortable expression, Liuliu didn't take heed. After all, the cakes she made were frankly terrible.
"Mom, Xiaoquan and I are heading up the mountain, we should be back by the afternoon." Liuliu changes the topic and informs them of their plans. But she doesn't say that she plans to cross over to Shaping County on the other side of the mountain, for fear of alarming them. But she knew she'd be back by the afternoon.
