Chapter 007 You Did That on Purpose_1

The room plunged into darkness in an instant, and Qin Yuji curled up, crying restrainedly and feeling wronged.

For the next several hours, Qin Yuji didn't dare to blink, afraid that the man would break down the door any second.

After all, this was his home, and she had no power to resist.

Time passed, and there were rustling noises outside, followed by the closing of the front door, and the villa returned to its previous deadly silence.

After sitting stiffly for a while, Qin Yuji slowly got up, sat on the bed, and massaged her legs that had gone numb and immobile. Once they felt better, she opened the door and went out.

It was already light outside.

The three-story villa, with its European and American-style interior, was decorated in shades of black, white, and grey, as cold as its owner. Even when the warm morning light streamed in through the floor-to-ceiling windows and spread across the wooden floor covered in cashmere carpets, it could not warm the chill of the place.

Tiptoeing around, Qin Yuji finally realized that there was indeed no one in the house.

Was he really planning to let her go?

The surprise came too quickly, and Qin Yuji hardly dared to believe it.

The next instant, she hastily packed her things and left the villa like a hare breaking free.

By the time she returned to her rented room, it was ten o'clock. Touching her forehead, which had started to heat up again, Qin Yuji took some medicine from her bag, ate it, and curled up on the bed.

Fragments of memories threatened to flood into her mind, each piece dredging up a painful past, and then, on her still unhealed heart, tearing open one bloody wound after another.

"It'll pass, it definitely will..."

"One year, just one more year, and I'll leave this place and live a life of my own..."

Muttering to herself, Qin Yuji's thoughts gradually calmed down.

She had made up her mind. After her senior year, she would go far away, never to return to M City again. Those memories, whether painful or pale, could eventually be forgotten.

Time can heal all wounds, can't it?

After some time, waking from a doze, the light pouring in from the window was very glaring. She grabbed her phone to check the time. Qin Yuji hurriedly got dressed, washed her face, grabbed her backpack, and rushed out.

From two to six in the afternoon, she had a part-time job to do at the coffee shop.

Unwilling to take a taxi, Qin Yuji transferred buses twice before arriving near the coffee shop. She sprinted through the commercial street to a coffee shop called Fleeting Years, arriving just two minutes before two.

Relieved, Qin Yuji greeted the manager and rushed into the changing room.

At the counter, Xiao Xu pushed over a freshly ground and brewed coffee, "Here, a latte for Table 6 on the second floor."

"Got it..."

Smiling at Xiao Xu, Qin Yuji carried the tray upstairs.

The second floor was an open-air balcony, and under each sun umbrella was a modern coffee table paired with a set of bamboo chairs.

The air conditioning in the coffee shop blew away the heat of the summer day, and the occasional breeze brushed through the hair and skirts of the beautiful women, making everything seem so leisurely and casual.

At Table 6, a young woman reading a fashion magazine turned pale with anger after taking a phone call. The coffee that had just been placed beside her was suddenly flung away with a swipe of her hand.

The freshly brewed hot coffee almost totally splashed onto Qin Yuji's hand, with a few drops hitting the woman's skirt.

Her hand started to burn painfully, but before Qin Yuji could recover, she heard the woman's sharp accusation, "Hey, did you do that on purpose?"
