2.6 Behind Schedule, Behind Closed Doors

Huang slammed his fist down on his desk, frustration knotting his brow. Grabbing his cellphone, he dialed, only to be met with the unwelcome tone of voicemail. That bastard had even gone as far as to block his number.

For days, they had been anticipating the arrival of the new VP of Engineering, but now all they received was a curt email, stating his absence and desire for solitude. They were already behind schedule, with Dorian missing from work for over a week.

Pressing a button, Huang issued a command, his tone terse yet determined, "Summon Tan and Shaofeng to my office."

"Yes, President Zhu," came the swift reply.

Within minutes, Tan and Shaofeng entered, taking seats across from him.

Huang wasted no time in addressing the issue at hand, "Dorian's replacement isn't joining us."

Frowns creased Tan and Shaofeng's brows. Tan inquired, "Did you offer him a higher salary?"
