HER NEW JOB

Everyone was stunned by the fact that Nicole who just resumed today, got the chance to kiss the almighty Alexander, without even trying hard to do so. Unlike some people like Alyssa, who even tried to seduce him at his weakest time, but couldn't even touch his hand, let alone kiss him, was now fuming with anger and filled with hatred towards Nicole and marked her as her new enemy.

On noticing people staring and already gossiping, Alexander quickly pulled away from Nicole and wanted to say something, when Ronnie called him and he had to leave. Keira also came and dragged Nicole from the scene.

'OMG! Can you believe that Nicole actually kissed the almighty Alexander after punching him at the cafeteria. Oh Jake! Will I also be able to kiss you after punching you?' Keira said in the group chat organized for the final year students of benison high.

'Uhm, point of correction, it was an accident. Alexander would never do such a thing with a girl like her. I can't believe you are still fantasizing on jake.' Alyssa replied.

'She is obviously saying that because she was quick to become friends with Nicole. Just re-watch the video and you will see that it was an accident.' Paula said, uploading the video.

After school, Nicole told her friends about her idea of looking for a job, as she was in need of cash for her grandma's meds and didn't want to ask her dad for money. And she hadn't also told them that Paula was her step sister.

'Come on Nicole, what would people say if they know that you come from a rich family, but still insist on working.' Keira said.

'Well, I don't care what people think of me. Besides, it isn't my parents who are rich. Remember I told you that I'm not from here.' Nicole said.

'Alright, come on guys, I know of a place that is in need of a waitress. It's down the lane of our school. And the woman is really nice.' Clare said.

'Are you talking about mum Ashley's kitchen.' Max asked

'Yes, that's it. Come on guys.' Clare said.

'You're hired. But in one condition. I don't want to look for you during your shifts. Am I clear?' Mum Ashley asked

'Yes ma'am. I'll make sure to be here early.' Nicole said

'It's "yes Mum Ashley" and not "ma'am". You can start now.' Mum Ashley said and threw an apron at her and started explaining the necessary things for her to do and concluding her pay for the month.

'Thanks guys. I really wouldn't have gotten this job if it weren't for your help. I'm really grateful.' Nicole said while seeing her friends off.

'We will always be of help to you.' Max said

'Bye guys.'

Bye.' They all chorused and Nicole went back to work.

On reaching home late at night, Nicole was met by the sight of her father pacing back and forth in worry.

'What took you so long to get back from school? And why weren't you answering your phone? I was so worried that you might have lost your way back home that I sent people to look for you.' Phil said as he walked towards her and hugged her.

'Dad, I'm so sorry. I forgot to tell you that I would be looking for a job to get money for grandma's meds.' Nicole said.

'Do you really have to do this? I mean, I have more than enough money that can take care of your grandma's meds for the rest of her lifetime.' Phil said

'I know dad. It's just that I don't like relying on people for things I know I can handle. I mean your my dad and you have every right to do so, but I'm just not used to it. And thanks for the offer, but I'm still going ahead with my plans.' Nicole said and headed to her room.

Phil became devastated, because he never expected Nicole to be this adamant on working. But he decided to let her be and not make her more uncomfortable in the house.

'Dear Ric, how are you doing today? Well, as for me, I feel nostalgic. I just resumed school today and things were a little hectic but I was able to manage throughout the day. I got myself a job and I'm supposed to be happy that I have one. But seeing my dad's worry, it makes me think of quitting the job, but at the same time, I don't also want to be a burden to him. What should I do Ric? What should I do?' Nicole finished writing, but saved it as a draft.
