Rebecca
I nearly delete Caroline's message the instant it appears on my phone. After all the chaos she's stirred up in the past, she's the last person I want to hear from right now. And yet, I hesitate. The text is strangely polite, even sympathetic, asking if we can meet in private. My gut warns me to ignore it, but desperation can do funny things: my business is floundering, my social circle has frozen me out, and my parents' support hinges on me dropping off the public map. Maybe, just maybe, Caroline can offer some insight I can use to salvage what's left of my life. she is successful after all.
