To Hunt A Lion

"Everyday... I have been waiting Everyday for some petty revenge." Ven said with a laugh as he continued shaking Tika's container, having the time of his life. She seemed to be cursing him out, but no one could really hear her over Ven laughing. Vex stared at the two as they continued down the main street, seeming slightly concerned for her mother. "Don't you think you should stop?"

"Hey, she killed me. Least I can get is some easy revenge." He smirked before noticing Zamtika had thrown up and was practically passed out. "Buuut... She could use a break. So you take her for a bit." He sighed, passing the container to Vex.

After a bit more walking the two of them sat on a bench, admiring the sights. "So why do humans get a city in the sky and we get an underground city?" Vex asked. Ven shrugged, casually disregarding her. "Well, it wasn't like this when I was around. Humans tolerated us and we tolerated them. My guess is Eden was a heavy burden on the world and everyone just kinda went their own ways. Hell, I haven't seen any Fey creatures in a while. I reckon they went back to their forest."

"Woah! You've seen Fey creatures? What were they like?" Vex asked with awe struck eyes. Ven let out a sigh and said bluntly; "Life advice for you Vex. Never trust the fey. I know it sounds Feycist, but they will try to steal anything. Even your name." He laughed.

Vex began asking all sorts of questions about Ven, from what his favourite past times were to how he became a mercenary. He answered every question in short, simple answers, not really a fan of talking about the past.

After awhile, Vex got hungry and casually walked off without a second thought. But before Ven could go after her, he was stopped by a familiar voice. "You're that Rabbit from the underbelly, right? Ven, was it?" Ven turned around to see Lily approaching him. "Oh, hey. Never thought I'd see you again. What are you doing here?"

"I just came to relive some old memories." She said in a warm, friendly tone as she sat on the bench, motioning for Ven to join her. He gave a half hearted shrug and sat next to her, not really knowing what to say. "So how has the underground treated you?" She asked with a smile.

"Can't complain. Just saving a friends life right now, ya know. Playing the hero an all." He said with a slight chuckle. "A hero? My. And here I thought you would just be another zombie. But who knows, you might be the next Mollia?" She laughed softly, covering her mouth with her hand.

"Eh, Mollia is overrated. They always say they were some mythical being who could do anything, yet why haven't they bothered to do anything about the world?"

"I'm sure Mollia could do anything... If she put her mind to it. But instead she chooses to remain stuck in the past. Perhaps if you do meet her, you could remind her of her Mouse?"

"Meet Mollia?" He said with a confused look. "When would I meet Mollia?"

Lily sighed, staring at the sky. "You never know with her... Then again. Is any of this real, ######?"

"Wait, what?" Ven asked before suddenly shooting awake, finding himself sitting alone as he was being poked awake by his own hand. "Come on, Ven. I got a distress call from Tika!" Tid-Bit said with urgency as she appeared in front of him. "Where is she?" He asked as he shot up, getting ready to run. Tid-Bit began guiding him to Vex as fast as she could.

A few minutes earlier

Vex was casually eating a hotdog she'd bought from a street stall. She noticed all the weird glares she was getting from the humans who passed her by, a few yelling at her that she was an antlered freak. But she didn't really care, more focused on the food.

Suddenly, she was met by a tap on her shoulder. "Excuse me, Ma'am but uhm... Monsters aren't allowed in this city." Vex turned around to see Sun-Splitter standing before her. She sighed, staring at the hero with an annoyed look. "I'm not even doing anything. I just wanted food."

"But... You're not allowed to." Sun said with an awkward smile, trying not to sound mean or rude despite her blatant racism. Vex rolled her eyes, walking away. "You're not getting me to leave." She said as she turned back and sat down on a bench, continuing to eat her hotdog.

Sun didn't really know what to do, as she was so used to Demi-Humans trying to fight her (Even though the Demi-Humans she usually fought were nothing more then raiders from the desert below).

She awkwardly pointed her sword at Vex, trying to scoot her off the bench. "Just leave, please. You're upsetting the peace."

"Then let the humans be upset, Little Lion." She said as she threw her wrapper in the bin. Sun began getting frustrated at Vex's refusal to leave, but didn't want to hurt a seemingly innocent girl. "Look, you seem like a good kid, so why don't we get you back to the Underbelly where you belong?"

"Kid? Do I look that young?" Vex said, making her tone sound more mature. She had always wanted to pull the age card on someone, and now had the perfect chance to do it. "How old are you, hero?"

"Older then you, kid. I'm 25."

"I'm 286." Vex said with a smug smile, causing Sun to freeze up in stunned surprise. "Y-You're w-what?"

"You heard me. So don't start calling me kid, kid." She laughed, her rabbit ears twitching slightly. Sun began getting both annoyed at this jackelope for both being smug and having made her feel like a dummy. "Well, leave the city anyway! You're not supposed to be here!"

Vex leaned in close, deciding to try and act like how her mother told her to in these situations. "I dare you to try." She said in a cold, threatening tone. Before she could react, one of her antlers was cut off by Sun's sword. Vex fell back, accidentally shattering Zamtika's container as Vex looked like she was about to cry as she clutched her antler. "M-My a-a-antler! I'll fucking kill you!" She yelled, quickly grabbing her gun-blade.

The two swords clashed in a brilliant clash. Tika watched with a slight bit of awe of her daughter's swordsmanship, but knew it would be best to call Ven, quickly running over to Vex's bag and sending a message to Tid-Bit to help.

Vex and Sun began swinging at each other, both being evenly matched in both stamina and training. Sun quickly jumped back and began firing beams of flame at Vex. Each shot went so quickly, that spectators of the duel couldn't even comprehend the speed... Except Vex, who activated her heart's ability, slowing down her perception of time, allowing her to jump over the flames, quickly closing the gap between her and sun.

Sun looked stunned by Vex's speed, getting slightly worried as Vex seemed to be getting faster. Sun was beginning to feel the pressure of this fight, but decided to try another tactic, letting out a ferocious and deafeningly loud roar directly in Vex's face, causing her to drop her blade to cover her ears in pain. "Agh! I can't hear!" She cried out, quickly activating her heart to try and regain her bearings, only to be kicked in the side of the head and sent flying.

"Not bad, Jackelope. But you need to always prepare for the unexpected." Sun said with a smirk that quickly faded when she saw Vex get launched through a portal. Sun felt a hard kick to the back, seeing Vex on top of her. "What was that? Prepare for the unexpected?" She laughed, giving Tika a thumbs up. Zamtika gave a thumbs up back before lying down, rather tired from spending all her energy on one portal.

Sun retaliated by setting herself ablaze, causing Vex to quickly jump off her. "Come on then, bring it!" Sun yelled in fury as she slowly stood up, seeming rather tired. But Vex just gave a thumbs up as she tossed her blade at her, which she easily dodged. "Was that your plan? To give up?"

"Nah. think you should try fighting a heartbroken hero." Vex said with a smirk before grabbing Tika and sitting on a bench. Sun looked a baffled, turning around to see Ven standing there with a cocky grin. "Sup, girlie?"

Sun quickly charged for Ven, summoning multiple flaming swords and launching them at him, only for them to be sent flying back at her through a portal. She tried to close the distance, swing for Ven as fast as she could. Only to be parried rather easily. "I don't think I've actually thought someone weaker then me since I've died... You're pretty disappointing, hero." He laughed before pulling out the tranq gun and firing the shot at her obviously. She went to block it, only to see Ven laugh as he used a portal to redirect the bullet. Before she could turn around and block it, she was hit by the bullet.

Sun was incapacitated and shrunk down rather quickly by the bullet as Ven placed her in the vial. He casually walked over to the two, waving slightly with a smirk. "Sorry I was late. I took a nap."

"You're dead! I thought you didn't sleep?!" Tika yelled in frustration over Ven's excuse, only for Tid-Bit to take control and say; "I must have been hit by something. I just shut off randomly. So his excuse has some merit." She smiled before Ven took back control, patting Vex on the head. "And hey, at least Vex held her own. I'm almost proud of her."

Vex's eyes lit up, turning to Tika with a big grin. "See, Ven is proud of me. I'm so cool!"

"Haha... Don't say you're cool." Ven said as he grabbed Tika, motioning for Vex to follow them back to Splice's hideout.
