Pitch Perfect

Mia feels a wave of pride rising inside of her as she enters the sleek, contemporary workplace of her IT company. As the CEO, she is driven to push her firm to new heights, having worked relentlessly to create it from the ground up.

Mia strolls with assurance towards the conference room, where her team is waiting to hear about her future goals. She cannot resist the feeling of excitement pulsing through her as she takes her place at the head of the table.

Mia says, "Good morning, everyone," her authoritative voice resonating. "I'm overjoyed to see so many people I know in addition to some new ones here today.

As you are all aware, we have been putting a lot of effort into changing the tech sector, and I think the timing is right to advance our business."

With passion and determination in her voice, Mia shares her vision for the future with her staff, who listens closely. She discusses breaking into new markets, collaborating with other prominent figures in the field, and pushing the frontiers of innovation in previously uncharted territory.

Upon concluding her presentation to resounding cheers, Mia can't help but experience a wave of fulfilment. She is aware that she has taken every possible step to realise her ambition; all that remains is to wait and see what lies ahead.

With eagerness and enthusiasm lighting up their cheeks, Mia's team members congregate around her back at the office. They laud and admire her for her daring leadership and congratulate her on a job well done.

However, Mia is aware that the actual work has only just begun. Mia can't wait to tell Alexander the good news as she sits in her beautiful flat, her pulse still pounding from the thrill of her pitch. She picks up her phone and types quickly, her excitement evident in every word as her fingers shake.

"Alexander, hello! Guess what? The pitch went quite well! We did it flawlessly! I only wanted to let you know the news."

She presses send and watches, tensely, for his reply, her excitement growing with every moment that goes by. Mia can't help but smile at his words of enthusiasm when he responds.

"Mia, that's wonderful news! There should be a celebration, for sure. I'll send my driver to come collect you so we can celebrate your accomplishments together. Prepare for an unforgettable evening!"

The idea of Alexander sending his chauffeur to pick her up causes Mia's heart to skip a beat. She feels uneasy because she doesn't think he knows her home location. However, she ignores the emotion, telling herself that Alexander is only being nice and considerate—a small way for him to show his appreciation for all she has accomplished.

Mia can't get rid of the uneasy feeling in the back of her head as she gets ready for her evening with Alexander. Nevertheless, she is determined to savour every second of their celebration together and won't allow it bring her down. What could possibly go wrong when she's with Alexander, she tells herself?

Mia's heart is racing with excitement as she gets out of the car and sees Alexander standing there—he looks just as attractive and alluring as she remembers. A small smile plays at the edges of his lips as he takes in her beauty. His eyes light up with excitement.

Alexander continues, his voice hoarse and low, "Mia, you look absolutely stunning."

The compliment causes Mia to flush as warmth floods her cheeks. She whispers, "Thank you," her gaze resting on his immaculately groomed figure.

As they enter the bar together, the place is humming with enthusiasm and energy. The barman asks them what they'll be having as he walks up to them, smiling broadly.

However, Alexander intervenes before Mia can reply, giving orders for shots of whisky neat for both of them of them without even looking at her. His arrogance causes Mia's brow to wrinkle in confusion, and a brief feeling of unease stirs in the pit of her stomach.
