THE RETURN AND THE PLAN

Abel was just stepping out of the hospital when Hilsa skidded to a stop at the gate, dropping her bike in a rush. She dashed over and threw her arms around him.

He could feel the warmth and sincerity in her embrace.

"I almost thought I wouldn't find you… got delayed at school," Hilsa panted, breaking the hug and stepping back to look at him.

"It's such a relief seeing you out here for a change."

Abel smiled—his first real smile in what felt like ages. There was something comforting in her voice. He, too, felt a sense of relief as he stepped out into the world again.

It was strange how something as simple as fresh air and freedom could lift his spirits after being confined for so long.

"Feels good to be out here too," he replied, taking in the fresh air like it was his first breath of freedom.
