The moment Solanne opened her eyes, she felt a little bit better. She looked at to her side only to see a cup full of water and beside it was a medicine. Her brows perked up.
'Whose Medicine is this?' She asked trying to get up. Her memories seemed to be not intact as there were few details she can't seem to remember like, how did she get that water and where did the medicine come from?
Still, she tried her best to get up and sat on the bed. She leaned on the head board and grabbed the glass full of water and drank it.
The water felt like knives sliding down her throat yet she knew better that to vomit it. Additionally, to that she won't be able to recover.
She can't be weak!
Feeling a little bit better, she leaned to her bed frame, her breathing was still uneven and even with the slightest movement she feels tired. She wanted to sleep again.
Right as she closed her eyes, she heard the door opened. Her gaze flew in that direction. Her mouth almost fell to the ground. Her eyes were wide as saucers.
Could she be dreaming again?
Hallucination?
Illusion, perhaps?
He looked up and frowned the moment their gaze met. He then put down the bowl of noodles on the table beside the glass of water.
"Stop with such ridiculous gaze before I throw this out and you'll suffer the consequences."
Was it all just her imagination? Why was his tone a lot gentler than before?
"Yes?" She was dumbfounded.
He sighed. "Eat and drink the medicine that's here," Yael pointed the desk. "Get some rest then we'll talk."
"Oh?" Solanne blinked again as she can't process this right now. "I- is there a miracle that happened?"
"Shut up," His tone of voice and way of speak was still there. Yet, there's something about this that was different. He sighed and then he heads out of the room. "I'll come back after you finished eating. Do not complain, just like what I said earlier, the only thing I can cook was this noodles."
"I'm not complaining," Solanne looked at the noodles and smiled. "Thank you," She had no recollection of what had happened but she guessed that it was for the best.
Solanne watched his back. For some reason, she remembered her little brother. She should call him tonight, she thought.
Still her gaze was directed to him.
'He changed,' she thought.
Change.
Changes like this are always pleasant.
The hot soup of the noodles eased Solanne's throat. She should boil some water and add some honey on it to make everything better.
After finishing her food, she put the bowl on the desk and drank her medicine. As the medicine's side effect, Solanne fall asleep. This time, she was smiling.
--
Right the moment Solanne woke up, the bowl was already gone and the glass was refiled with water. Yael was in her room again. Feeling conscious, she looked around, thankful that there's no undies that's scattered all over the place.
After sleeping for the whole day, Solanne felt a little bit refreshed that she can already stand up. She needs to stand up, because if she continues sleeping there, she feels like her head might explode.
With that decision, she grabbed her jacket and put on some facemask before heading down stairs.
The moment she step out of her room, she heard the soft jazz music playing around the cabin. She can also smell the scent of candles beings lit up and the traces of smell from a noodle that was cooked.
Right, that's the only thing he could even cook. Solanne pitied him. Right as Solanne headed down stairs, she was greeted with Yael sleeping on the coach, blankets on while the two other cats were with him. The jazz music was coming from Yael's phone that was placed on the table.
Other that everything was normal. With a smile on her face, she headed to the kitchen to make some milk and grab a cup of noodles. She then started to boil some water for her food and drink.
As she waits, she sat on the high chair, her face was resting on her palms as she closed her eyes. She needs to drink another medicine for tonight, she thought.
The soft jazz on the background was soothing to the soul. She stayed in that position for a while before she heard a yawn.
"You're awake?"
Solanne slowly opened her eyes hearing Yael's voice. "Yep," she answered back before turning around and made some herself some milk and food.
Yael stood up after carefully tucking the cats to the blanket. He then grabbed the high chair and sat down. The kitchen counter between them.
"How are you feeling?"
"Good, well, not that good but enough to function." Solanne put the milk on the counter and the cup noodles. She then sat down in front of him. "Thanks for the medicine. It helped me a lot. I'll return the favor soon."
Yael just quietly nodded.
Again, there was silence between them.
The soft jazz was still playing on the background so it wasn't that awkward. Besides, they seemed to be getting used to each other presence.
Solanne didn't mind. For the past few days, she was already used to his silence.
"Can you tell me if it's already pass 5 minutes. " Solanne casually brake the silence.
Yael glanced at the cup of noodles sitting on the kitchen counter. He stood up and grabbed his phone, still playing the music. "It's three more minutes."
"Thanks," Solanne sipped her milk. "So, is there anything you wanted to talk about?"
Yael sighed. Solanne stared at him curious to what he was thinking. She never really thought that the bubbly singer and actor in front of the camera was this silent in front of her. Every time she looked at him, he looks as if he was occupied by some thoughts that he never shared with anyone.
'Well, aren't we all have that kind of episodes?' Solanne mumbled through her mind as she waited for him to open his mouth.
Solanne was patient. She was causally sipping her milk getting lost with the music.
"Three minutes has passed." Yael said like it was natural. Solanne nodded, amused by his words.
She grabbed the chopsticks and started eating, when… "Have you been experiencing several unexplained dreams lately?"
"Cough! Cough! Cough!" Caught by surprised, Solanne drank a mouth full of water. "So suddenly! Do you have any sense of timing, really?"
Yael scoffed as he was trying to suppress his laughed. "Well, It's just that." He dodged the question, "Let's go back to the main topic. Have you been experiencing different kinds of dreams lately?"
"Dreams?" Solanne asked feigning ignorance as if she doesn't have any idea but she has already something on her mind. Was it because she was sick, Yael's words were still not registering through her mind. Or perhaps, she was still half asleep?
"Yes. A dream where you are inside a train-"
"Cough!"
"Are you really that sick? Or are you doing this on purpose?" Yael asked annoyed. He then stood up and grabbed a mug and made some coffee.
"It's not my fault- wait," Solanne changed her expression. She eyed him as if he suddenly grew another pair of arms and legs. She put down the chopsticks.
"Have you also?"
Yael put down his mug. He sighed and nodded. His gaze looked as if he was conflicted. "Yes."
"Then those are?"
"I do not know," Yael shrugged as he sat down.
"Then, how come you were asking me if I'm dreaming? You must have known something? You're the one who guessed it."
Yael frowned at her and eyed her as if she had said something so ridiculous. "You're the one who broke down in front of me saying that I think of you as loud and annoying."
"I did that?" Solanne gasped trying to remember.
"Duh!"
"You were crying like I child I feel so guilty about it. Have you seen those cat's gaze full of disappointment directed at me?"
"Huh?"Solanne instantly looked at the two cats peacefully sleeping.
"You do not have any clue!"
"I-" Solanne was speechless. The noodles she was eating was already forgotten as her whole face turned red.
"Right, now better speak up before I accused you of anything again."
"I…" a paused. "I do not know."
"You better tell me the truth." Yael pressed.
"I don't know! It's just one day I'm dreaming of that train!"
His gaze did not waver. Solanne bit her lips. "How can I even understand it? I even thought that I'm losing my mind."
"…"
"Is that the truth?"
"Of course! Do you think I'm lying?"
"Well…"
"What a false accusation!"
Silence was there once again. "Then," Yael sighed. "Who's causing this shit?"
"Like hell would I know?"
"How sarcastic." Yael stretched his lips and looked at Solanne with disappointment-.
"Just saying."
