the castle of old pt.1

Nightfall on the outskirts of Paris came, and a castle stayed still in the forest. Walls circled the fortress, clearing it from the trees that rivaled its place in the sky. The walls stood over the people, begging for rescue and entry. The walls towered over them, making all of them seem like ants. The forests were nothing more than a tower, a tower of death and solace, where the dead and living came together. Crowds were gathered at the entrance, climbing on each other, begging for entrance and refuge. Mothers and fathers raised their children and babies to the guards, begging for them to be let in and spared. The guards stood motionless at the sight of the crowds. the guards pushed the crowds away from the walls, collapsing them into each other. Hands reaching out to the guards, piling up from beneath each other measuring several stories high. Poor, Rich, Evil, Good. all wanting to be spared and let in. Behind the crowd was fire. Smoke and fire rose from the horizon behind them. Large tower-like figures marched in the distance. The tower like giants measured more than seven stories.Trembling the ground and crushing everything beneath it. Trees, buildings, humans. Exploding under the weight of their feet, only wanting to crush everything in sight. Those giants were always accompanied by armies, armies of demons, imps, and minotars. Griffiths flying all around them. Picking up any unsuspecting victims to their madness. Grabbing mothers, fathers, and children and raising them to the Giant's head. Ripping their legs from their torsos. RIppings them. Limb from limb, muscle by muscle, and dropping them into the Giants' mouths. The victims disappeared into the giant's stomach. Getting disintegrated and burned alive by their stomach acid. Their skin melting off of their bones. Falling off of them and falling on the person below them and their children. Nobody ever escaped from that army.

In the fortress high above the man slaughter in a window. Was a man, who would solely change the destiny of humanity.

The knight is sitting in a velvet chair high above. The bedroom, dimly lit by candles. The knight is writing in a book, scribbling words furiously into the pages. Gripping his pencil and paper. Harder and harder, ripping holes into the pages.

"Why so angry?" A voice resonated in the room.

The man looked up from his book. In front of him was a man. Leaning on the wall. Ripped clothes, and scarred skin, he looks like he had been dragged through the pits of hell. Hair stretched out over his face, down to his waist.

"What do you want?" The knight responded.

"Why do you think I'm here?"

"I don't…Know" The knight got up from the chair, he took off his coats of armor. Revealing leather pads all around his body. Bandages wrapped around his arm. Hidden scimitars at his side revealed from under the heavy armor. A gray shirt and a black long coat, with tan pants and black boots.

"You know. Why do you think I'm here James?"

"LEAVE ME ALONE!" James threw the book at the man.

A woman barged into the bedroom In a cleric's outfit, She had heard all of the commotion in the room.

'James, are you okay?"

"I'm ok Janet" James turned to her.

Janet walked up to James and hugged him. They embraced each other in the room. James put his head on top of hers and kissed her on the head. He turned his head to where the man was, but he was gone.

Janet buried her head in the arms of James. She hugged him tightly crying into his chest. Tears went down her cheeks and fell on the floor beneath them. James wrapped his hands through her dark hair. Janet got up from hugging him and wiped her tears. She started putting on James's armor on him.

"What are you doing?" James asked Janet.

"The general wants us to get ready, We are going to fight the demons"

"Oh," James looked back out the window. The army was closer than earlier.

"I can't stop thinking about Jon," Janet told James.

"He'll be fine, He's farther inland, if anything he'll be sent father back into France and may be sent to Russia" James assured Janet.

Janet finished locking all of his armor in.

"We need to go"

Janet grabbed his hand, as they both ran out of the room and into the hallway. They both ran across the hallways. In the hallways, other soldiers and greats were reading their armor. Two knights ran beside them. Both of them holding a stretcher with a knight on them.

"Stretcher coming through!" The Knights ran beside them. On the stretcher was an armored knight.

But half of him was missing.

The knight screamed out in pain holding his open flesh. His legs ripped out of his torso. His legs are eaten by other demons. Blood dripped out of his amputated legs.

"AGHHHHH GOD NOO!" The knight screamed out in pain holding his wounds from dripping out.

The Knights down the hall across from Janet and James.

Janet looked back at James. She looked at him with fear in her eyes mouthing the words "I am scared James".

Finally, they reached a stairway down. They hurried out of the stone stairway. They looked out of the stairway windows, and with each floor they passed they would see the giants, getting closer and closer, crushing more and more victims in the crowds. Finally, Janet and James busted through a wooden door at the bottom of the stairwell and reached the fortress's giant courtyard. The giants looked closer than ever, they could see them more clearly, giant, muscular, freakish giants, with horns coming out of their heads. The imps and demons slashed at the crowd.

Heavy rain poured down on the courtyard, making the mud even more of a hassle. Knights and greats ran across the courtyard, grabbing horses, and reading canons. Mobilizing an entire army for this very moment. Knights lining up with weapons. Officers assembling their armies. Several officers ran across the courtyard, screaming orders at all the other soldiers, on how to prepare to save them.

Janet grabbed James by the arm and dragged him over to the lines of Greats.

"We need to find Montoya and the group!"

They both ran through the mud and greats, pushing through the specialized forces, bizarre weapons, and murderous and crazed soldiers. Finally, they found the group, huddled up together at the front of the courtyard.

Soldiers, nights, greats. All in square formations waiting to funnel out of the fortress gates to fight the demonic forces.

Finally, They reached the front of the square, pushing through knights and greats. Janet reached her hand out to be pulled out of the crowd.

"Montoya!" Janet screamed into the group.

A large armored hand grabbed her from outside of the crowd and pulled them out of the crowd. The man was dressed in a heavy coat of golden armor. Multiple layers with several layers and a mask with several engravings and with a huge zweihandler strapped to his back. The man was 6 feet tall and had no skin exposed. They finally got to the group. In the group, there were other people in their group, but only two were there. A woman dressed in a thick ghillie suit, with a black rifle behind her back. They all gather together in a circle.

"Thank you montoya" Janet hugs the armored man.

"No problem" Montoya hugged Janet back.

"Mary where is the rest of the group?" She looked at the woman in the suit.

"Beau is at the tower with her position ready. Ricky and Marty are already there, we need to go NOW!" Mary straps metallic wires to James's and Janet's hips. The wires are attached to some mechanism at the top of the walls.

"What the hell is going on!?" James looked around in confusion at everything.

"You'll be fine just get ready to run Immediately, or I'll disappear don't look for me, by my calculations the giants are...." she put her finger up to the giants.

"about 80 kilometers from the fortress...."

She looked at them with a worried face.

"We have an hour"

Mary gave a thumbs up at a dark figure by the top of the fortress, This figure raised its bow from the top of the fortress, the figure pulled on the bow, and released it gently. A large circular stone cone flew from the top of the fortress. Other archers like the figure were set there, waiting to launch a flurry of arrows at them.

A voice resonated in the courtyard, the soldiers looked up at the sky, preparing for everything they had dedicated their lives to, will be a reality.

"FOR DEATH IS TO BE GREAT FOR WE CARRY HUMANITY FORWARD WITH OUR CORPSES!"

The soldiers raised their weapons to the sky.

"AMEN FRATER"

Janet grabbed James by the arm.

"I'm scared James" She whispered in his ear.

James hugged her to try to calm her.

 "so am I" he responded.

The archers at the fortress ready their bows, and fired at the armies. Thousands of arrows flew across the sky, The mechanism activated. All of the steel rods surrounding the walls violently yank forward.

"OH SHII-" James screamed at the top of his lungs, as he was violently thrown over the stone walls as a catapult ball. Janet tried grabbing on to James, as she was drifting apart from him.

"JAMES HELP!" Janet yelled out to James as she slowly drifted apart from him.

James reached out to her, grabbing her by the hand and pulling her close to him. and curled up into a ball attempting to protect Janet.

"JAMES!, JAMES!" Janet screamed out in panic.

Mary signaled to Montoya, drifted apart from the group, and disappeared into the trees silently.

All of the soldiers were launched over the walls at the demons. Thousands of knights and greats flew over the crowds of people, reaching out the them. The soldiers flew straight at them, looking down as they passed over the forests and rivers, and all of the scenery most of them grew up with. For once humanity had achieved the flight by catapult. Several soldiers spun out of control, falling into the tree lines, and breaking bones and weaponry, losing their lives. The soldiers took out their weapons. Preparing them for impact to the ground. Thousands of giant stone drills flew over them, at the giants piercing their skin, joints, eyes. bringing some of them to their knees onto the ground, stopping them from completely wiping out the troops. most of the other giants kept on marching toward the fortress. The troops covered 80 kilometers in 2 minutes. They flew across the sky at record speeds, the soldiers curled up in a ball as they began to approach the giants.

The giants raised their hands to the incoming soldiers. Their hands swept across the sky, wiping out several of the soldiers, and turning them into a red mist. The group flew across the sky, missing the giants' destruction by a few meters. but they managed to escape the massacre in the sky. Montoya got closer to them grabbing onto them and curling up into a ball, using himself as their shield. They flew parallel to the ground, and Janet and James gabbed onto Montoya. Montoya curled up into a ball, grabbing both of them and putting them at the center. They fell into the incoming demons. Killing and crushing a couple of them. Janet and James crawled out of the ball and sustained no injuries. As they got up a rain of blood poured onto them. Body parts and armor fell from the sky, hitting the ground Blood rained down on them, tainting them with the blood of their allies. A red mist of blood set into the forest, from all of the shredded dead bodies.

"We need to get up now!" Janet pulled up James from the ground, holding him up. James stumbled from the crash onto a tree, he grabbed his head, trying to make heads or tails of where he was, he looked around him, and all he could see were eyes, peering and reflecting off of the moonlight. Janet grabbed James' hand in fear, for she feared what would happen to them.

They could hear the screams of soldiers and people all around them in pandemonium. People begging to be spared, and people in pure agony.
