A Career In Modeling

At Presidio's Heights, Grace just finished trying on the last of the clothes in her room and walked out of the bathroom with it.

"I must say you have such a great figure that brings life to everything you put on," Isabella complimented sincerely.

Grace's mouth spasmed in a smile. "Thank you," she said and turned around in front of the mirror to appreciate the perfect fit of the trouser suit on her body. "But that's because you and your team did a great job."

"But seeing how it looks on you, makes it worthwhile. Have you ever considered a career in modeling?" Isabella asked as she helped Grace to neatly arrange the other clothes she had been trying on.

"What? Quit joking. I know you're just flattering me," Grace laughed out loud this time.

She knew her figure was good, and hearing someone compliment her felt good. Even her friend Wendy tried talking her into modeling, but she couldn't imagine herself going on a runway…. No… Designing was her thing, not modeling.

"I'm being serious, Ms Fowler. You look good in everything. It's more like you were molded to fit into anything."

"Now I'm positive you're flattering me. But I'm definitely not considering being a model, not with all the hassle and competition that comes with the entire package."

"But Ms Fowler…"

"I think I should check on Charles. And can we just stick with Grace? Ms Fowler sounds so stiff," Grace said and limped to the bathroom to change.

After discovering that she was not the real daughter of whom she thought was her father, she was no longer comfortable with being addressed as Ms Fowler. It was a name she had leased for too long and hoped to return some day.

"I don't mind, if you don't," Isabella shrugged, taking the hint that Grace didn't want to continue with their conversation.

She just felt it was a pity that such a great body would be hidden from the public eye. What a waste of an asset,' she lamented inwardly.

But she also discovered one great virtue about Grace from the brief conversation they had… she was a modest person.

Despite knowing how beautiful she was, she didn't allow it get to her head. If it were other ladies, they would have loved her to go on and on praising their beauty.

After confirming that everything was okay with the clothes, Isabella took her leave and by the time Jace returned home, Grace was already in the living room with Charles.

As Jace strolled into the living room with Suresh, his assistant, Grace's breath caught in her throat when she took in his striking appearance

When he caught Charles in a warm embrace, his features softened inexplicably and for a moment Grace forgot to breathe, seeing how breathtakingly handsome he was.

"How are you buddy? Did you have fun today?"

Charles raised his head to glance at Grace briefly who gave him an encouraging smile, then nodded gently.

Jace caught their little exchange and didn't know what to make of it.

"Alright, daddy got something for you." He stretched his hand and Suresh gave him the gift bag he was holding.

"Here. I know you'll love it," Jace smiled as he handed the bag to Charles.

Charles collected the bag from his father and scribbled "thank you, daddy," on his notepad then headed over to Grace to show her the gift.

"It is so lovely. We will assemble it together, okay?"

Charles nodded in agreement. Contrary to his father's expectations, he didn't return to him but remained by Grace's side.

Jace's expression turned dark at the current development. Deep down, he wanted his son to have a positive relationship with the nanny, but the speed at which it was developing left him feeling uneasy.

He forced a smile to mask his discomfort and ordered, "Charles? Come here."

But the little guy just stared at his father briefly before looking away again.

Grace saw Jace's displeasure and had no choice but to step in to remedy the situation despite her resolve to keep her distance from him.

"Charles, let's go and keep daddy company. He missed you, you know."

'This isn't really happening right?' Jace said under his breath.

When did he start playing second fiddle in his son's life? He even listens to a stranger more than him, his father.

Jace's discomfort grew, realizing that the connection between his son and his new nanny was more than he had expected.

"Am I making a mistake hiring this woman as my son's nanny? What if she turns him against me in the future since it appears he listens to her more? No, that can never happen. I will make sure of that.'

He had a wry smile on his face as he watched the two of them approaching him.

"Good evening, Mr Brandon," Grace greeted when she was relatively close enough.

Jace just gave a grunt, his initial excitement of returning home had faded and he was back to his cold CEO self.

While Grace was still trying to process the meaning of that grunt, her attention was drawn to another commotion outside the living room and from yesterday's experience, knew who it was immediately.

'Thank goodness, at least we'll have a gust of fresh air around us this evening,' she mumbled to herself with relief.

Caden stepped into the living room with a grin that could rival a Cheshire Cat, but it suddenly froze when he saw his elder brother's expression.

"Is anything the matter, brother? Who has the guts to piss you off?"

"Which part of your eye saw me angry? Do you need to see an optician?"

"Of course you're good. There's absolutely nothing wrong with you," Caden quickly reacted before using his nephew as a shield.

"Hey, Pumpkin! I didn't see you at the company today and I missed you terribly. How can you abandon your only uncle for an entire day? Do you want your poor uncle to die of loneliness?"
