As he spoke, his eyes settled on Marianna.
"Mrs Marianna. I seem to recall your blood type is O negative which is quite compatible with Charles's. To save time I'll suggest you make the donation," Dr Brooks said all of a sudden and all eyes turned from Grace to Marianna.
When she felt the eyes on her, Marianna stepped forward but her slight hesitation and the fleeting panicked look in her eyes before she masked it, did not escape Jace's keen eyes who had been observing her.
"What's the problem? Are you unwilling?" Jace asked coldly in a voice laced with disdain. "You've been parading yourself as his mother. Why don't you prove your sincerity? Or is donating blood for your own son too much of a burden?"
Marianna's hands trembled slightly as they clutched the strap of her bag, her voice faltering. "I—of course I'm willing. I just… wasn't sure if it's safe for me to donate, given my past health issues."
