Phuket murder case

EP17.

"Let me ask you something. Have you ever wondered about me in your life?"

"Dumping me in a place like that. You must have enjoyed getting a few bucks."

"I'm so sorry. It's all my fault."

"Do you want to apologise?"

"Of course. With all the money I have and everything. I'm sorry for my son."

"No, Ki-tae Park, my apology is for your death."

"In the next life, please don't take life lightly."

Park Ki-tae's eyes widen.

He waves his hands in fear.

He tries to run away with all his might with his knee.

And the trigger is pulled. His eyes close in pleading. He goes out of focus, and without a word, he is thrown to the beach.

He is shot in the chest, seemingly instantly.

I'm stunned, and Kim Ji-hoon says.

"What are you doing? Hurry up and tape him up in a plastic bag."

We put the body in a suitcase and entered the hotel.

The woman was small, so she fit perfectly in the carrier we had customised, but Park's father was a bit bigger and uncomfortable.

We put the body in a plastic bag, stuck it securely with duct tape, and dusted it with Febreze.

It was the best thing since sliced bread, and we headed back to the hotel.

I had withdrawal symptoms, but I was fine after such a dramatic moment.

I guess it's the dopamine rush. We lugged our two suitcases to the field behind the hotel and started looking for a suitable pit.

Luckily, we had already marked out a spot and brought two shovels.

Personally, I thought it would be easier to just burn it and get rid of it, but Park instructed us that we had to bury it. We were stunned.

"Ji-hoon, Auntie wants you to carry it, it's too heavy."

"Ai, Jae-seung, I killed her, I'm heavy."

The carrier containing the woman was much lighter, so they wanted to carry each other.

The pits were dug in different spots so they wouldn't be found together, and all the fingerprints and eyeballs were dug out so they couldn't be identified.

We almost covered Fébriez.

We had been digging for maybe two hours.

A phone call came in.

As we were burying each other's bodies. It was Park Jung-min calling to check on us.

"Jae-seung, did you do it neatly?"

"Yes, I'm clean. I've had too many withdrawal symptoms since coming here."

"Really? What's the worst?"

"Shaking and cocaine, of course."

"I'll give it to you for free when you come to Korea.

"Thank you. Ji-hoon is so calm, like he's never done anything before."

"That's how you are, Ji-hoon. Is it your nature?"

"No, bro, I'll take care of it and go back."

"Okay. Throw away your mobile phone and come back with me."

"Yes, sir."

"Hey, Ji-hoon, can you put Jae-seung on the phone?

"Jae-seung, is it hard?"

"Yeah, it's hard."

"Wait, I need to talk to you about your wife. Turn off the speakerphone."

He clearly had other intentions.

"Did you record everything on your glasses?"

"Yeah, but it's everything you said."

"Okay, you heard me, didn't you?"

"But why did you do that to me?"

"Huh?"

"Did you really think you'd never seen me before?"

"What do you mean?"

"My name is Park Se-hoon."

"What Sehun?"

I realised. So it was Park Jung-min after all.

"Why were you bullying me?"

"What are you talking about?"

"I'm Sehun, didn't you hear what my dad said earlier?"

"If you answer me properly, you can live."

And Kim Ji-hoon pointed the gun at me.

"Put me on speakerphone."

"Okay."

"When you were in school, you called me a parentless orphan, and the nursery school I went to, you posted my name all over the school like a sign."

"Why did you do that to me when you were being bullied too?"

"I'm so sorry, I apologise."

"Why did you do that to me?"

"Honestly, I thought you were going to be bullied."

"Is that why?"

"Is that why Gyuri approached me?"

"You only answer when asked."

"You're a drug addict, your family is broken, and your furniture store is about to go back to Gyuri."

"If Gyuri finds out about your affair, you're going to be hated to death.

"Of course, your daughter and Amy are both addicted to drugs, and there's no rehabilitation.

"You know your condition."

And Park Jung-min continued to talk as if he was getting angry. The eeriness of the mountain is bizarre.

"I hate you, Jae-seung, because you've been bullying me so innocently."

"I've been working on this project for more than three years, so why not get revenge?"

"Honestly, you're too easy to manipulate. You deserve to be punished, okay?"

"I'm so sorry."

"And Gyuri said that when you were sleeping with me."

"Your dick was so fucking small."

And Kim Jihoon pulls the trigger.

Bullets fly at me.

A revolver with a silencer, loaded with not two but three rounds.

A hole in my head.

I cry bitter tears. I am buried with the maggots. The case is closed.

EP17.5 Return to Korea

Kim Ji-hoon's Diary

I committed murder.

Jung Min-hyung ordered me to kill a total of three people.

In the army, where most of my memories are of being a prisoner, I was a pretty good marksman, so maybe that helped.

When I first heard the order, I was a little puzzled and even questioned it.

"But why do I have to kill Mr Jae-seung?"

"He saw you murdered, so why let him live?"

"Who do you think they'll blame later?"

"The money he was supposed to get is all yours.

"Are you sure you want to do this?"

"I've given the order. I'm going to the chop shop for a few weeks."

"But if you're an arsehole and get caught, you're on the hook."

"It's only tidy when he and the other two are gone."

"You don't get caught killing two people or three anyway. The sentences are the same."

"You know what I mean?"

"Life imprisonment, death penalty, it's over once you're caught. It's better to be clean and get rid of the witnesses."

"So we just dig a pit and do it there?"

"Yeah, and keep your earphones on so you can hear it."

"I'm gonna get a big payday when this is over. I'll deposit it right away, when I get back."

"I'll deposit 2,000 as an advance, now."

And that was it. People die more easily than you think.

Can we really say that the suffering of the dead is greater than that of the living?

Where do souls go? Does the world as we know it really go on as we know it?

Maybe I should be thanking myself for shooting myself in the head?

Maybe I'm a benefactor because I freed him from all the stress and pressure on this planet.

It's right for the Jokbaljip couple, and it's right for Jae Seung-yi.

Park Jung-min insisted that I take his glasses, but I wonder if there's some kind of symbolic meaning.

Still, an order is an order, so I'll fulfil it.

Humans are so weak and die so easily.

One bullet to the head is all it takes to end all pain and stress and head for the faraway place.

People who commit suicide are very brave.

Now I have to go into Korea.

Oh, right, I have to check out.

Jae-seung's and Jung-min's.
