Into the Myriad Realms

"What is Area 51?" Cain asked with confusion.

He knew most places in the world, but he never heard of anything named Area 51.

"That's where the gate is going to be. They built an army base around it." Mosa said before shutting her eyes.

Cain looked over at the other kids who were looking nervous.

There truly was nothing more scary than the unknown.

Seeing his men nervous he decided to get some blood pumping.

"On me!" He yelled and everyone in the plane stopped whispering and looked at him with their full attention.

"I don't know what we are about to face but I know as long as I have my brothers and sisters by my side, we can do anything!" Cain yelled with a fierce roar.

It was silent for a second before he heard Blake start the battle cry and the entire plane shook with their cries.

"Ahou!"

"Ahou!"

"Ahou!"

—---------------------

As Cain and his team got ready to enter the gate everyone around the world was watching the news.

"Today is the day that the world has been waiting for. Fifteen years ago everyone heard a voice in their head. The Earth will be integrated into the Myriad Realms.

No one knows what that truly means but what we do know is that two hundred kids are about to be sent into the gate and into the unknown.

Despite people around the world trying to protest against sending these kids the leading world powers have completely ignored these protests and have continued to train these kids for fifteen years.

No one knows how these kids have been trained or chosen but these kids are Earth's hope to rise in the future.

They are The Hope Bringers."

—-------------------------------------

Cain stood at the front of the four lines.

Each line consisted of 50 of his men except one line had 49 because he was standing in the front of all four lines.

They all faced an empty part of the desert land and hundreds of soldiers surrounded the area.

Huge metal gates kept out the surrounding people who came to see the gate open.

A military helicopter could be seen in the air broadcasting everything. They had to do this or else every single person in the world might force their way in to see what would happen.

Cain and his team each wore a camo soldier uniform with a pack full of supplies along with an m14 in their hands and a knife on their belt.

They were told technology like guns and nukes would no longer work but they were still armed just in case.

After about an hour of standing and waiting everyone was starting to worry.

What if the whole thing was some giant elaborate scheme?

But just as they were starting to doubt a huge mass of colors could be seen like a dot floating in the air.

Slowly the dot began to become larger and the air began to grow stiff and heavy.

"There it is!"

"It's the Gate!"

A huge colorful gateway opened up in front of them, large enough for ten semi trucks to fit through in both height and width.

The colorful gateway didn't cause any sand to stir like it didn't exist at all.

"Alright, we don't know how long the gate can stay open! You gotta go now!" A scientist in a white coat screamed.

"Alright, Cain! I'll see y'all on the other side!" Raj said and Instructor Mosa smiled at him before patting him on the back.

"Good luck Cain. Don't let us down."

He started walking toward the gate with the others following behind him.

He felt like he was walking into the mouth of a monster.

He could hear the crowd cheering and screaming them on but as he walked through the gate everything began to grow distant before soon he couldnt hear anything or even see anything.

Soon he couldnt even feel anything or smell anything before finally he saw white.

All he saw was white for as far as the eye could see.

Which wasn't far as white snow completely clouded his vision.

But then he felt it.

The cold agonizing wind.

The wind felt like a hot knife cutting across his skin. The cold frigid air sunk into his bones and chilled his blood.

It was the coldest he had ever felt in his entire life, colder than even Antarctica.

Looking at his already numbing hands he realized his gun was gone and looking at his body all he was wearing was some fur pants and a fur robe of some sort.

His feet were covered by some weird animal skin and made into slippers.

But it did nothing to protect him from the chilling wind of the blizzard.

Cain saw the blue screen appear in his vision and he didn't understand a single thing except to survive for one hour and he got something in return.

He didn't know if he believed it and he didn't really care at the moment as he began to grow dizzy within seconds.

His chest was already starting to hurt and he couldnt stop shivering.

"Protect the Commander!"

He heard a scream over the roaring blizzard and looked back to see hundreds of people looking around in horror.

In the middle of nowhere and in the middle of a blizzard.

Probably one of the worst starting places they could think of.

"Surround him!"

Cain felt his body get laid down on top of another body before he got surrounded by bodies from every angle.

The bodies were super tight and blocked the frigid wind from hitting him directly allowing him to think a little more clearly.

Hundreds of bodies surrounded him like a wall as everyone built a tent over him with their bodies.

They were all laying on top of each other without crushing anyone but it wasn't enough.

The people on the outside who were protecting him from the cold wind were getting blasted.

Their bodies were constantly shaking and their minds began to grow foggy.

"Hold!"

"Hold!"

He could hear a man's voice screaming over the sound of the blizzard.

The man's voice was the only thing keeping the others from falling asleep forever.

None of them knew how long it had been except that it felt like an eternity.

Every second felt like hundreds of years. They felt like they were in hell, in an eternal loop of suffering.

None of the training and torture they had endured could even compare to what they were going through right now.

They didn't know how long they would have to endure they just knew they had to.

"Hold!"

"Hold!"

"Hold!"

The resounding yell kept those on the outside from falling into the abyss, even as their skin started to swell and turn yellow and grey they just tried to listen for the voice.

Cain who was in the middle of all the bodies was shivering and screaming in his head while watching the blue timer in front of him count down by the second.

[5:45]

[5:44]

[5:43]

He was almost tempted to turn off the timer as every single second felt like forever but it was the only thing giving him hope.

He felt like as long as the timer ended they might have a chance to survive.

His entire body was numb and he could hardly feel his heartbeat anymore.

Soon people on the outside started to pass out and eventually the voice that everyone was holding onto disappeared and all they heard was the roaring winds of the blizzard.

Cain felt his vision blur as he tried to keep looking at the blue numbers counting down.

[Congrats! You've finished your first mission! Rewards being distributed!]

Cain felt his body begin to grow hot like an oven before a feeling like lava coursing through his veins made his body spasm and black goo gushed from his pours.

Finally, his body began to feel normal again except he felt stronger than ever before. His skin and bones felt tougher, and the freezing air no longer felt as cold even if it was still extremely frosty.

His breath was deep and strong while his heartbeat was loud and full of vitality.

Eventually, he heard the voice again and this time it was even louder and full of strength.

Meanwhile, the people on the outside awoke to find their bodies in perfect shape, the puffiness and yellow skin could no longer be found.

The wind still felt like a sharp whip cracking across the skin but it no longer felt like it was cutting to the bone.

Putting their bodies back up against the others everyone was back to full health and full of hope.

They didn't know where the strength came from but it didn't matter right now.

They just needed to survive the blizzard.

Days passed and surprisingly Cain still felt strong, even if he was feeling weaker he didn't feel like he should if you went three days without food in the middle of a blizzard like no other.

But finally, on the third day, the blizzard stopped and the snow wasn't falling anymore.

[New Mission!]

[Find food and shelter to survive before the Frost Titan breaths again.]

[Reward: 200 sets of Tier 1 gear]

[Hint: A Frost Titan takes one breath every seven days!]

Cain took a moment to make sure he wasn't becoming crazy before deciding he wasn't.

He didn't know what the hell was going on but he knew he was given some tool to help him and his people become stronger.

And now he knew that he had seven days to find some food and shelter before another blizzard came and shut them down for another three days.

And he already felt his body begging for food.

"Everyone up!" He yelled and felt the bodies around him begin to get up and finally he could see the white surroundings again.

Getting off the body below him he looked to see who it was.

"Blake! Are you okay?" Cain held out his hand to his friend Blake who had been laying in the snow to make sure he survived.

Blake gripped his hand and he felt a strength in it that a skinny fifteen-year-old shouldn't have.

"Feel fucking fantastic brother." He pulled Blake up and saw that he looked okay except black goo was covering him.

Actually, it was covering all of them. He wasn't sure what it was.

"Good. Listen up! We need to find food and shelter as soon as possible." Cain's words made everyone nod and soon they went off in a random direction hoping to find anything.

The air was still cold as hell but for some reason their bodies didn't seem to be affected so they marched on.

Soon everyone was asking about who it was that was screaming during the blizzard and they found out it was a boy named Kai who had been doing it.

Cain went to Kai and thanked him and talked with him for a while.

He found out Kai was twelve years old.

"Listen up! From here on out Kai is my second in command! If for some reason I'm not able to command he will take charge!" Cain yelled to all of the young faces that were looking at him before looking at Kai and nodding.

Kai had helped them hold on during the blizzard and they found it hard to even breathe in the frigid cold air while he was screaming. They had only respect for him.

"Are you sure? My command scores were low." Kai said while putting his hand through his messy hair.

"Scores don't mean anything here. Only Actions." Cain patted the young man on the back and started walking faster toward nowhere.
