"Always talking more than you should…" Paul was surprisingly tolerant of Chris's sharp tongue, brushing his words off as he looked into the distance… after slightly pulling his tail a little bit.
Perhaps his attitude was also one of the things that attracted Chris to him, as the little devil had never met a man so stoic as him. Whatever he went through in his childhood, it had developed a really thick skin.
However, even though he was so stoic, he was still soft inside… and easy to embarrass.
"I think we're here, Chris! Paul!"
Ermelinda called for her friends as the children ran inside a large, slightly run-down building. After walking for ten minutes, they finally arrived.
Vlad knew a little about this place already; he had seen it a couple of times from above while flying around. It was the place with the most children and the most people living in such a small building.
"So this is the… What was its name? Blood something?" Chris wondered, crossing his legs cutely while floating in midair.
"Blood Heart Orphanage! Yes! We are so honored to have you as guests! By the Moon Goddesses!"
Suddenly, a nun stepped out of the orphanage with red skin and black horns emerging from her black-and-white nun clothes, a black blindfold covering her eyes. She greeted them with a gentle smile, her long black hair cascading down as she opened her scaled hands.
"A-Ah, it is nice to meet you," Vlad muttered, feeling overwhelmed by the nun's presence.
It was a big presence; she was over two and a half meters tall, after all, and very strong-looking, with large arms and a broad body, accompanied by a feminine and delicate voice and a beautiful face.
"N-Nice to meet you, ma'am…" Ermelinda muttered, almost crushed by the nun's pressure alone.
"Oh my! I didn't notice you—Eh?! You're… a Forest Elf! Now then, isn't that quite the unexpected visit?" The nun giggled. "The children have told me about you as well!"
"A-Ah! I'm so happy," Ermelinda forced a smile; she was rather shocked by the nun's giant appearance.
"H-Hey, what kind of tribe does she belong to?" Chris whispered in Vlad's ear.
"…I think she might be a Flame Majin or Demon of some sort…" Vlad muttered.
"My name is Scarlet! I am the nun in charge of this orphanage, Your Majesty. It is an honor and a pleasure to have your visit; we truly don't deserve this!"
The nun lowered her head, then knelt completely, but even while kneeling, her body was so big she almost reached Vlad's full height.
"Ah, please, Scarlet, stand up; there's no need to lower yourself before me. The children showed me great kindness, so I decided to repay them," said Vlad, acting more like the prince he was supposed to be. "I became curious about where they came from, and we accompanied the kids so what we gifted them wouldn't get stolen."
"Oh yes, the beautiful rings! We are so, so grateful! The Crimson Moon Goddess has blessed us with such miracles! We simply are not deserving of such magnanimous kindness! Thank you! Thank you, my lord!"
Scarlet kept prostrating herself over and over again; she seemed very grateful.
"O-okay, no need to act this way; let's take it easy," Vlad muttered, patting her huge shoulders, which were as hard as steel.
"Kyaaah! I've been touched by my lord! Endless fortune is coming my way!" She cried and trembled when Vlad touched her shoulder.
"She's a weirdo!" Chris whispered in Vlad's ear.
"Don't say it out loud though…" Vlad sighed. "I guess it takes someone with… special abilities and a very strong personality to take care of dozens of unruly children."
"Yes, that's right; I have a big heart!" Scarlet nodded, giggling.
Despite her intimidating presence, her laughter and personality were very endearing.
And above all, she exuded a strong motherly aura.
Some could say that, combined with her powerful and muscular physique, this made her the ultimate nun.
"Ah… His Majesty is really here?!"
"I can't believe it…!"
"So those rings…!"
"By the goddesses, where are our manners?!"
Suddenly, four more nuns walked out of the orphanage, greeting Vlad formally, lowering their heads.
All four of them looked different from one another: a blood elf nun with a slender figure, white hair, and gray eyes, as if she were blind; a yellow-skinned goblin nun who looked rather young and tomboyish, with messy brown hair and big green eyes; a banshee nun with very long black hair and pale gray skin, looking rather melancholic; and lastly, a werewolf nun, the second biggest of the five, with gray and white fur and a small, delicate-looking wolf head.
"Mother Scarlet, did you have to intimidate the prince by appearing out of nowhere?" The werewolf nun sighed. "We've talked before about how overwhelming your presence can be sometimes!"
"A-Ah! My apologies, Mother Grayshade, but I couldn't help it! I was so excited," Scarlet stood up, brushing the dust off her dress.
"My apologies, Your Majesty; Mother Scarlet tends to be rather excitable at times…" The goblin nun apologized. "My name is Landy; nice to meet you, my lord."
"We are honored to have you here…" The banshee nun kept crying black tears. "I-I can't hold back my tears… Ooohhh…"
"Stop crying all over the place…!" The blood elf nun, whose appearance contrasted with the rest as she looked like a supermodel, sighed, crossing her arms. "At the very least, introduce yourself to His Majesty, Oblivia! A-Ah! Right, yes, Your Majesty! My name is Bloodilia."
"I see; so there are five very capable nuns here…" Vlad nodded, realizing they could be great assets to the civilization, especially in spreading the faith of the Moon Goddesses. They were rather charismatic, and Scarlet seemed very strong. "I am happy to have come here! I suppose there are still so many hidden talents in this city. I have an idea of sorts; shall we talk about it inside? I would like to give the children some gifts; I've brought food as well."
