The audience could quite clearly see that from the start of the scene, anger and frustration were boiling up in Shylock. He had only just heard that his daughter Jessica had eloped with her lover Lorenzo, taking an enormous amount of his money and jewels with her.Göran, as Shylock, did actually come into his own quite marvelously to convey anger and delirium. He strode across the stage, pacing, his eyes wide and flashing, shaking his hands with fury. It was a moment so crucial that the audience held its breath, and some even gasped, as Göran's performance continued to rise in pitch. Wilhelm, Elias, and Tanja waited backstage, for their turn to perform, and each of them was just incredibly taken by Göran's acting.""Wow. He's throwing himself into this" murmured Wilhelm to rest of his friends. Wilhelm felt Elias agreeing to his unspoken thought. "Yes" said Elias. "The energy is palpable even from this distance away." Commenting on it further they said "He is capturing the emotion positively." This Tanja continued the dialogue. The scene progressing, Shylock seemed to morph. His emotions swerved from anger to mimic-deliriousness. Self-muttering became evident. Persistent giggles filled the background The eyes exhibited a somewhat intense, demented look. The audience didn't lose its focus. It paid heed to the acting sensation Göran. Göran started to stir their anticipation. Characters were threatening to change, enthralling them further. Character change on the vibrant stage was becoming apparent. The audience leaning forward wait was there for the unfolding of the scene. Not all in the audience, albeit they were primarily gripped by the stage presence presentation by Göran. Wilhelm, Elias, and Tanja all rushed out from behind the scenes to congratulate Göran on his overwhelming performance."That was great," Wilhelm said, clapping Göran on the back."You really did capture the madness of the character," Elias said. "I was almost scared for a moment."
Göran smiled wearily but behind it was evident satisfaction. "Thanks, guys. I'm just glad I managed to do the scene justice."
