Chapter 14

It was a week since that heated kiss. The Queen had been sent to the Regin Kingdom alongside the King to celebrate Edward's mother's birthday. They had to travel a week earlier due to the weather changes and they were set to come back tomorrow.

Kira was the only one who had stayed back in the Moral Empire. The awkwardness, the tension... she didn't know how to feel being around the Queen so she avoided being around her. Luckily for her, the Queen left right away when the Moral Empire received an invitation to the birthday banquet.

The concubine had only kissed once before, however, that was solely because of her curiosity but kissing a girl... kissing the Queen! How could she do this? She was supposed to be the King's concubine! Kira had been repenting all day by distracting herself and keeping herself busy. She helped with the servants and joined in on their daily gossip conversations.

Dreading the day that was coming tomorrow, the concubine sighed and thought out loud.

'How will I be able to face the Queen now?'

...

Arisa wanted nothing more but to go back immediately. That whole night felt like a dream but being sent on late notice to the Regin Kingdom gave her no chance to talk about it with the concubine. The Queen had always been open-minded, but she decided earlier to keep her strange feelings hidden from the concubine.

Throughout the time she spent in the Regin Kingdom, the King had randomly grown attached to the Queen. At night, he chattered away about his mother and how he deeply missed his father. Naturally, the Queen had ignored him and constantly kicked him off the bed.

Today was the day she was finally going back. The day she could properly talk to the concubine. The Queen held little hope that maybe it wasn't just her who felt this way, if so she wanted to hurry back already!

...

'Come onnn... we're husband and wife, this is what married couples do, pleasee,' the King pleaded with the Queen.

'I'M NOT HUGGING YOU!!' The Queen yelled, she didn't like this sudden affection. The King and Queen were seated in the carriage together, this carriage was spacious and could contain over 10 people.

'Why are you so close to me??!!' The Queen moved him with all of her strength trying to kick him out.

'You can be so mean, why hold me at night but then act so different now?' The King sulked.

Arisa closed her eyes, trying to ignore him.

'It was cold and you were the one who squeezed me all those nights.' She finally spoke after a moment of silence. She opened her eyes and shot a look at him.

The King shuddered, feeling intimidated, he turned the other way.

...

The Queen and King were seated in the main hall greeting the government's men. The Queen hadn't spoken once, despite this, the King managed to lead the conversation strongly. Seeing how distant the Queen was from her own Kingdom made the top executive boil with rage. He had spoken to her several times before but she just blatantly ignored him. He hated seeing her arrogant gaze as she visibly judged the men before her.

The Queen even dared to yawn a couple of times and this only set off the executive more. James noticed the King was greatly involving himself with their own. He was happily engaging in conversation and the government's men had grown quite fond of him. Edward Regin of the Regin Kingdom would have been a great King in the future, it's unfortunate he had to marry into the Moral Empire, where he would be nothing but a pawn for the government to use. A shame his own Kingdom gave him away. James thought to himself. Edward had noticed the executive had his eye on him and turned to speak.

'If you don't mind me asking, where are my concubines?' The King didn't hide his concern. The Queen's ears suddenly perked up and she looked at the executive as well. James furrowed his brows.

'Surely the King isn't expecting to meet his concubines here?' Before the King could answer, the Queen responded. 'And if he did?' James shot a look at her, his hands turning into fists.

Must she embarrass me in front of the King?! He yelled inside. He was trying to make himself feel better by belittling the King so the King was aware of his place in the Moral Empire.

'Forgive this one for asking.' The King quickly understood and bowed his head. Despite being a King, he was nothing compared to the men of the Moral Empire. They were quite a powerful nation and he didn't want this to end in bad terms. Once the King said this, the government's men all turned to the executive and he deeply felt their judgment.

'No, no... it's okay,' the executive turned to one of the nearest servants and instructed them to bring the concubines.

Hearing this, the Queen smiled.
