In Darren's office, Kiara stood before him, a subtle dance of tension and familiarity playing out.
"So, you sent for me," Kiara stated, her tone a mix of formality and curiosity.
Darren, reclined in his chair, smirked, "Yeah, or is this not a professional space?" His words carried a hint of sarcasm, a challenge lingering in the air.
"Can you sit down?" Darren invited, a mix of casualness and indifference in his tone.
"Although I have nothing much to say, you can decide to sit or stand. I have no reason to bother." Darren added.
Swallowing her pride, Kiara acquiesced, settling into a chair opposite him
"So, what's the issue?" she inquired, her gaze fixed on Darren.
With a self-assured tone, Darren began,
"Congratulations to us," Darren declared, "The movie is almost completed,we've done a great job putting things in place for the successful release."
Kiara, masking her emotions, acknowledged with a restrained smile.
Darren, reveling in self-importance didn't miss a chance for self-praise, boasted, "You know we wouldn't have come this far without my role as the production manager."
"But let's leave that to that," he continued, inflated with pride.
"I'm going to be entrusting you with the copy of the movie when it is released, make sure to keep it safe when it has been given to you," he instructed, revealing a vulnerability beneath the bravado.
"You're telling me now?" Kiara's eyebrows slightly raised, absorbing the weight of the responsibility.
"What other time do you consider better," Darren concluded, a hint of vulnerability beneath his assertiveness.
"I guess I'm done with this conversation," Darren said with his direction now on his desktop.
Kiara, freshly burdened with the responsibility of safeguarding the movie copy, stepped out of Darren's office, only to find Nolan waiting in the hallway.
Nolan, a quizzical look on his face, couldn't help but inquire, "What did Darren want?"
"He intends to entrust me with the movie copy's care until it's time for release," Kiara shared, the weight of the responsibility evident in her eyes.
"Well, I guess that means the fate of our masterpiece will be in good hands."
A ripple of laughter echoed in the corridor, momentarily lightening the atmosphere.
Later that day, Kiara was at the studio's water break corner, where Kayla joined her for a moment of respite.
"So, spill it, What gist I'm I missing out on? Saw you and Nolan having a conversation when you left Mr Darren's office " Kayla inquired, her eyes betraying a curiosity she couldn't contain.
Kiara, sipping the bottle of water in her hands divulged, Mr Darren is intending to hand over the responsibility of the movie copy to me. Apparently, it's gonna be a crucial task."
Kayla, leaning in conspiratorially, whispered, "Sounds like he's giving you more credit than he's willing to admit."
A wry smile played on Kiara's lips. "Credit or not, I just hope I don't mess it up."
"Let me catch up with something." Kayla said as she dispatched to her office.
Meanwhile, Lola, grappling with her own concerns about Kiara and Darren, found an opportunity to confront the issue lingering in her mind during the casual lunch break.
"So, Kiara," Lola began cautiously, "you and Darren seem to be getting pretty chummy. Anything you want to share?"
Kiara, caught off guard, replied, "It's purely professional, Lola. We're just working together on the movie."
Lola, unconvinced, raised an eyebrow. "Just be careful. These things have a way of getting complicated."
Kiara, puzzled by Lora's cryptic remark, furrowed her brow, grappling with the enigma of its meaning.
In a brisk traverse through the hallway, Kayla's determined strides echoed as she pursued a colleague for an overdue file, her urgency was palpable.
Meanwhile in the ebb and flow of the office currents, Kyle, shrouded in the secrecy of his surprise for Darren, treaded the corridors with stealth.
Destiny intervened in a brief collision of paths, a transient meeting lost to Kayla's awareness, leaving Kyle caught in a suspended moment, unreciprocated.
Upon turning to identify his accidental counterpart, he found an empty space, the echoes of their encounter resonating only in the lingering sight of a distant figure, adorned in the color of her dress—a rich, cobalt blue that elegantly complemented the office ambiance.
Reaching her destination, Kayla addressed her colleague, "You forgot to hand over the file," her tone a blend of urgency and professionalism.
"Oh sorry" the colleague, apologetic, suggested they return to the confines of her office for the handover.
A discreet knock resonated through the hushed atmosphere of Darren's office, heralding Kyle's unexpected entrance.
Darren, visibly startled, greeted him with a mix of surprise and camaraderie, questioning, "Hey bro, what brings you to my workplace?"
"I just decided to do a sneaky peaky on you today, seems you're more serious on this than I thought," Kyle explained his impromptu visit, teasing Darren about his newfound dedication to work.
"What other way can I grow the company if I don't get serious with it" Kyle said in defense.
"Whatever, well I also got a letter from Rex, seems like I'm also into this predicament of yours, but do you know what makes mine better?" Kyle asked about showing off his strength.
"Well, I can get any girl of my choice whenever I want."
"Yeah because that's the only thing you can do best." Darren said determined to prove a point.
Kayla's entrance interrupted the deliberation, her purposeful stride bringing her to Darren's desk for a file handover, seemingly oblivious to the presence of Kyle.
"Thank you." Darren acknowledged the file.
A flicker of recognition crossed Kyle's face shifting his attention.
"Hey, Kayla, do you recognize me?" leaving Kayla befuddled and adding a layer of mystery to the unforeseen reunion in Darren's office, Kyle greeted, a flicker of familiarity in his voice.
Kayla, puzzled, replied, "Hi, do we know each other?"
Kyle chuckled, "You saved me from getting stuck in the bathroom sometimes back at the gym remember?"
Kayla's eyes widened in recognition, "Oh, that! Sorry, it's been a bit of a blur.
The atmosphere in Darren's office buzzed with the cadence of unfolding conversations.
Against this backdrop, Kyle casually asked, "How have you been?" The response was a succinct, "Fine, fine," making the two engaged in the rhythmic dance of workplace banter.
In an attempt not to extend her stay in Darren's office, he handed over his business card with a gesture that conveyed a subtle intention.
As she exited, a faint smile lingered on her lips, and the card found its place in her possession.
Kyle and Darren, took center stage.
"Heyyo, keep your games out of the confines of this company," Darren teased Kyle, who responded with a playful assurance,
"It's nothing more than a humble friendship playing out there, I've got no eyes on anybody."
The plot thickened as Kyle revealed, "She was the lady who saved me from getting trapped the day you weren't available."
Darren, with a knowing grin, interjected,
"Yeah, yeah, I eavesdropped on the conversation, so I know who she is already."
Meanwhile, Kayla, holding the business card in her hand, walked out of Darren's office into the professional labyrinth.
Her gaze traversed the intricate details on the card - the embossed business name, the elegant font. A discreet glance at the side revealed his number, a detail she planned to save promptly in her phone once she reached her office sanctuary.
However, the flow of the day had different plans. A colleague's urgent request redirected her focus, and the card found itself on her desk, momentarily forgotten as she plunged into the demands of the task at hand.
