Quickly slipping on her slides, Kiara made her way to the door and swung it open. However, the sight that greeted her wasn't what she expected.
Darren stood there, his expression a mix of surprise and displeasure, his eyes meeting hers with a hint of accusation.
As Darren lurched forward, his breath laden with the unmistakable aroma of alcohol, Kiara's eyes widened in disbelief. Never before had she witnessed him in such a state.
"Hey! I thought I told you to stay with me the whole time. Why did you leave?" Darren's words slurred slightly as he struggled to maintain his balance.
"Well, I didn't feel safe staying there any longer. What sort of business meeting ends with you getting drunk?" Kiara countered, her frustration evident in her tone.
"Hey, calm down! I'm not drunk," Darren protested, his words slightly muddled by the effects of the alcohol, as he tried to assert his sobriety.
