"Was that why you went all the way to my office?" Darren asked, his eyes fixed on his mom.
"I just did that to avoid gossip from people's mouths," Mrs. Hernandez replied, her voice low and mysterious, "and then I saw this." She held up the pendant with her eyes fixed on it like it was a precious treasure.
"So how's this pendant related to what we are saying?"
"Just saw it and I felt I should ask," Mrs. Hernandez replied,
"I've seen something of this sort in your hands before, and then I saw it in the ground. I thought it was important, which is why I picked it up to ask you about it."
"So what's the pendant about?" Mrs. Hernandez asked, her eyes narrowing slightly as she studied the pendant, her fingers tracing the intricate design etched onto its surface.
"It's not important, you can throw it away," Darren said, his tone dismissive.
