"I wasn't wearing a shirt, so I just needed a minute to throw one on, that's all I meant by 'private time'," he explained, his words coming out a bit too quickly, as he attempted to deflect any further inquiry.
He flashed a brief, dismissive smile, hoping to shut down the conversation.
"Enough about me, let's talk about you," Darren said, attempting to shift the focus away from himself.
"How have you been, Kendall? What brings you here today?" He asked.
"Nothing much, I just got a message from you saying I should come over today, and that you wanted to tell me something," Kendall replied.
"You?" he emphasized, his voice tinged with skepticism.
"Where did I send the message? How did I even...when did I even have the chance to?" Darren asked, his tone laced with disbelief, as he scrambled to recall any instance where he might have sent such a message, his mind drawing a blank.
