Emerald River

There was a reason why Aeon was not worried about these monsters called Komodoans and it was because he believed that since these monsters resort to ambushing their prey they must be weak.

Moreover, from the looks, Aeon found quite vulnerable places on these Komodoans where there were no scales…especially on the front side of the neck and the abdomen.

Hence, Aeon was confident in killing them with his Goblinbone Dagger which increases his attack speed by 10 percent and the Quaggoth Black Blade which increases his attack power by 10 percent.

"Haha…you think you can kill…."

'Swoosh'

'Puchi'

'Thud'

Before the Komodoan Lackey could finish his words, a dagger pierced through his throat and what happened next was that Komodoan Lackey fell to the ground and no longer breathed.

[Trial Progress has been updated]

[Overall Kill Count: 83 / 1000]

[1) Goblins: 20 /100]

[2) Quaggoths: 62 / 100]

[3) Komodoans: 1 / 100]

Aeon didn't bother to check the update in the [Communication Page] as he rushed towards the second Komodoan without bothering to pick up his Goblin Dagger

'Puchi'

Aeon didn't slash with the blade; instead, he went for the piercing because he believed it was much easier to kill them.

'Grimoire, what are you waiting for? Go and devour the corpses.'

After killing the two Komodoans in less than three seconds, Aeon commanded the Grimoire of Life and Death while looking at the remaining four Komodoan Lackeys.

"Everyone, let's attack him together."

"Yes, we can kill him if we work together."

Compared to Goblins, Komodoans were not cowards and even after seeing the death of two of their members, they were not scared.

Instead, they decided to work together to kill Aeon to avenge their fallen members.

"That's the spirit. You should fight; instead of running away."

Aeon felt happy when he heard their words because if they ran away, it would be much more difficult for him to kill all of them.

'Let me pick my dagger.'

Since they were not running away and even coming at him, Aeon rushed to pick up his Goblinbone Dagger that was left behind after the Grimoire of Life and Death consumed the corpse.

"When will the devouring effect come?"

Even though Aeon was not worried about getting ganged up by the four Komodoan Lackey, he was curious about the effect he would be getting by his second blessing, the [Devouring Effect].

At the same time, he hoped to get an attack-type effect so that he could finish the fight a little sooner.

[The second blessing [Devouring Effect] has been triggered]

[The temporary owner will receive a +10 percent boost in ignoring the enemy's defence in his Piercing Attacks (+ 5 percent from each corpse)]

At the same time, the Grimoire of Life and Death hovered in front of Aeon and showed him the effect he received from his second blessing.

'As I prayed…I got an attack-type effect.'

Aeon was happy when he read and became excited about his fight.

[Poison Spit]

'Swoosh'

Among the four Komodoans, one of them spit the green ink at him; however, Aeon was keeping an eye out for that skill after reading in the Assessment Page earlier.

'Die'

'Pierce'

'Puchi'

Aeon didn't attack the three Komodoans that were trying to attack him with their claws; instead, he dodged them all and pierced his dagger into the abdomen of that Komodoan that spit poison at him.

'The piercing seemed a little easy this time.'

Even though it was very little, Aeon could feel the difference after receiving the effect from the [Devouring Effect]. It made Aeon want to fight more.

'Swoosh'

[+5 percent increase in ignoring the defence in his Piercing Attacks]

On the other hand, the Grimoire of Life and Death swallowed the third Komodoan Lackey's corpse and increased Aeon's boost by another 5 percent.

'Three more Lackey's left.'

Aeon looked at the remaining three Komodoan Lackeys and revealed an excited smile on his face.

Soon after, there was not much surprise in the outcome as Aeon killed them one by one.

[Overall Kill Count: 88 / 1000]

[1) Goblins: 20 /100]

[2) Quaggoths: 62 / 100]

[3) Komodoans: 6 / 100]

'While I still have the blessing of a 30 percent increase in ignoring my enemies' defence in my piercing attacks, I should travel as far as possible.'

Even though Aeon was happy about killing the six Komodoans, he didn't waste much time thinking about his fight.

Instead, he started his journey to find the Emerald River before moving on to the second part of his journey.

'Swoosh'

'Swoosh'

The closer Aeon felt like he was moving to the Emerald River, the more monster traces he saw.

Moreover, after encountering the Komodoans, Aeon was more careful than usual.

'There is it…the Emerald River.'

After running for half an hour, Aeon finally saw a huge river and without a doubt, he could tell it was the Emerald River he was looking for.

Emerald River…as its name says, it boasts water of a stunning green hue, reminiscent of the most vibrant gemstones. As for the water, it looks crystal clear even from a distance.

'Let's not go near the river and move away from here as soon as possible.'

Looking at the water, Aeon unconsciously felt thirsty; however, he didn't dare go close to the river as many powerful Captain Grade Monsters were resting on the banks of the river.

'Minotaurs, Forest Wolves, Dark-Spotted Hyenas….. Even komodoans are there.'

Aeon recognized some of the monsters and there were still many that he didn't recognize.

Each group had at least a Captain Grade Monster along with four to five Sergeant Grade Monsters and of course, there were dozens of Soldier Grade Monsters.

After seeing such huge monster groups near the river banks, Aeon's urge to go away from the Emerald River seemingly increased.

'Even though it seemed very calm on the river banks, I can tell it was calm before the storm.'

For a moment, Aeon wanted to fish in the troubled waters; however, with his strength, Aeon didn't want to risk when there were so many monsters.

Hence, Aeon didn't waste any time and started the second part of his journey.

'According to the diary, the Goblinthorn Village is south of Emerald Lake and more dangerous than the first part of the journey.'

It was mentioned in the diary that the Goblin Mage encountered many monsters before reaching the Emerald River.

Thus, Aeon believed the second part was more dangerous and he had to be careful at every step.

[The gifts from the offerings of the Komodoan Corpses have arrived]

After travelling for a while, the Grimoire of Life and Death flew towards him and informed him about the gifts.

'I wonder what kind of gifts I will receive from these corpses.'

Aeon hurriedly found a place to rest before checking the items and when he saw the items, he was pleasantly surprised.
