Kanaru arrived at the inner court's lounge after helping Rosamund with her rounds. When he noticed that even Fran and the others were there, he figured Fenris was going to tell them something big. Whether it was a surprise to him or not, he could only pick a spot to stand around and wait to find out. He joined Eann and Natucha behind the couch where most maidens sat.

Looking around, Kanaru realized Henrik was not there yet. He frowned. "Eann, have you seen Henrik? I already called him to come here."

"Henrik was called to greet his mother. The scouts reported spotting her onboard the ship from Bourbonia," Natucha answered instead. She then patted her cheek. "I wonder why we're all called here. I mean… if they're just going to speak to the inner court maidens, why did he ask for me in particular?"
