Listening Ear

The next day, the sun shone brightly in Elias's room. As he slowly opened his eyes, he felt someone resting on his chest. A part of him had forgotten how close Maddison had gotten to him.

They didn't need separate rooms anymore. Elias tried sitting up without waking her. But as he tried to slip out of her embrace, Maddison stirred awake.

"Good morning, sweetie," Elias greeted her as he planted a kiss on her forehead.

Maddison mumbled, her eyes still closed. When he attempted to get out of bed again, She tightened her arms around him.

"Where are you going?" She croaked, her throat was dry.

"To get ready for the day. You should too," He said as he nuzzled close to her face.

"Me?" She asked.

What was there for her to do? Maddison hadn't found a job since she quit her previous job. That was when she remembered how Elias had hired her to be his private chef!
