On Edge

"Where is everyone?!" Margaret yelled as she stormed down the hallway.

The hallway was dark. She could barely see anything a few feet ahead of her. Margaret's hair and attire were a mess. She hadn't been able to sleep in a long time and all the days had fused together.

When was the last time she'd seen anyone?

"Imbeciles, every single one of them. I'm going to fire all of them, all of them!" Margaret declared.

Not watching her step, Margaret couldn't feel the ground beneath her feet. Gravity pulled her towards the ground. She free-fell down the staircase, crying out in pain as she tumbled onto the ground.

She cursed and swore as she scrambled to get back up on her feet. She winced in pain, crumbling back down to the ground when she felt a sharp pain in her right ankle. A cold breeze of air blew past her.

Shivers ran down her spine.
