Everyone else knew exactly what she was insinuating. They could not help but stifle their laughter, fearing Markus' wrath. To their surprise, he was the first one to burst out laughing. Scarlett's smile disappeared the moment she heard what Maddison had said.
All she saw was red. Scarlett grabbed a wine glass from the tray of a passing waiter. Leo saw it first. He wasn't about to let his granddaughter get splashed with wine so he stepped forward.
Maddison anticipated it too. She wasn't about to let anything happen. So, she pushed her grandfather aside and took a few steps back. Everyone got out of the way in the nick of time.
The wine splattered all across the marble floor instead, landing with a splat.
