Elias wasn't laughing. He was still thinking about what his mother said and Maddison quickly realized that. She placed her hand on his arm reassuringly. She knew he didn't want to upset his mother.
He cared deeply for her and had every right to do so.
But she knew how much he loved her too.
"Elias…"
"I'm not giving up on us. Never," He declared without hesitation, seemingly worried.
"Elias," Maddison lightly chuckled as she cupped his face, "I never once doubted that."
"Never?"
"Not since our Iceland trip," She replied, "I know your love for me is genuine and nothing is going to change that."
"I'll just have to convince her to like me," Maddison continued.
She didn't know how that would be possible, but she wasn't about to give up before trying.
"You don't have to prove anything to her. You are perfect the way you are," He reminded her as he kissed the back of her hand.
