Alex stared at the empty space and sighed lightly as he felt power coursing through his body.
"Is she... dead?"
His excitement was broken by Nacht's voice who asked Alex.
Alex paused and glanced at him before he nodded his head. After that, he turned to Charlotte and others who were seriously injured. He lifted his hand and immediately cast 'Healing Magic' over them.
A warm and gentle light appeared from his palm and slowly landed on the girls who could feel a warm current flowing through their bodies.
Nacht was dumbfounded to find that the wounds on their bodies were slowly recovering at a speed visible to the naked eye.
"You can use 'Healing Magic' too?"
Nacht was finally left speechless, staring at Alex and wondering if there was really something that the Magic Emperor could actually not do at all.
Alex ignored his gaze and refused to give him an answer as he closed his eyes and slowly observed the situation on the battlefield.
With Megicula and Vanica dead, Dante... forget about that weakling, only Zenon was still alive and kicking.
But his condition was not much better than his two siblings.
Yuno was facing the wounded Zenon while floating in the air. Both of his grimoires were floating in front of Yuno as he clashed with Zenon, hurting him again and again.
Faced with Yuno at his full strength, in all the glory of his 100% devil power form, Zenon's entire life flashed before his eyes, prior to becoming a devil host.
'No...' His thoughts echoed out as memories from his past played out.
If his best friend... If Allen could see him now... How would he feel?
Would he blame him for his death?
Would he detest what he had become?
Would he understand?

Years ago...
In order to kill a low-ranking devil that had been sealed in a dungeon that they were investigating... In order to stop that thing from escaping and wiping out the rest of his comrades from the Mage Defense Force and to stop it from endangering the rest of the Spade Kingdom, Zenon made the ultimate decision.
While his childhood friend Allen ran ahead to fight the devil head-on... While its attention was focused solely on him... Zenon unleashed the strongest spell he had in his arsenal determined to end this once and for all.
But Allen was also hit, impaled through his back.
Impaling him through the back with a large bone spike that split into several branches that pierced the devil in its head, chest, and torso. He finally managed to take it down.
On that day, he saved the kingdom at the cost of his best friend.
"ARRGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!"
He remembered screaming as tears poured down his face.
'If only I was STRONGER!'
'If only I wasn't so WEAK!'
'If I only had more POWER!'
Without power... neither emotions nor willpower meant a damn thing.
In order to protect the things that you value, he wanted overwhelming power.

"Bwahahahaha... First to that crazy human and now to another human? I feel disappointed, Zenon. As my host how are you not embarrassed?"
Towering over him, Beelzebub laughed and shook his head.
"I get how you lost to that other guy, his magic is something that even Megicula was interested in. But to a regular human? While wielding 100% of my power? Tch, tch, tch. You're making me look bad."
"Y'know, I remember back when you were nothing more than a sniveling weakling begging for a crumb of my power. Something about that dead friend of yours right? What was his name again?..."
"BEELZEBUB!" Zenon stared him down with an ice-cold glare.
"Oh?" The devil observed his crazy expression and grinned in delight. "So you still have some fight left in you?... GOOD."
Ignoring him and recomposing himself, Zenon remembered what he was here to do.
"I want to make another deal."
"Hehehe...." Beelzebub chuckled. "And what will you offer me this time?"
"Everything."
"...What?" Beelzebub frowned unsure if he had heard him correctly.
"You heard me. As per our contract, as long as the Spade can continue existing, I'll give you everything. My body, my mind, even my soul, it's all yours."
"...BWAHAHAHAHA...!! GOOD GOOD GOOD!! I ACCEPT!!" Beelzebub was very happy to accept such a deal after all he had been waiting for it for such a long time.
"Now tell me Zenon Zogratis! What do you want in return?!"
"A Devil's Heart... Give it to me." Zenon replied with a solemn expression.
"Very well." The devil grinned and agreed.
Outside, Yuno prepared his spell, ready to strike Zenon but he suddenly paused in his tracks.
Badmp!
"!!!"
'This feeling... It is just like that time in the Shadow Palace.'
Badmp!
'Allen!'
Badmp!
'I would not let your sacrifice be in vain!'
Swallowed in a current of dark and twisted negative mana, Zenon now bearing a devil's heart and gaining a new appearance stood before them.
His presence... It was devastating!
Wielding the powers of a devil and bearing a devil's heart, the human devil that the two had fought against had died. The thing that stood in front of them now.
It was a true DEVIL!
Alex chuckled when he felt the new power radiating from Zenon's body but even then he was not scared for Yuno since the latter was also hiding his real strength, not going all out till now.
'Go and fight to your heart's content, Yuno. No need to hold back at all. Now, that Zogratis will make a good sparring partner for you. Hehe...'
