Ch 179 - Selfish
Lucifero smiled as he had finally succeeded in leaving the underworld and entering the human world.
Slowly rising out of the fleshy sphere and silently appearing before Nacht and the other captains, Lucifero floated in the air, looking over at everything.
Silence encapsulated the world as the legendary king of devils Lucifero inhaled the mana rich air of the living world.
"Ah~" He sighed, sounding content.
Covered in wrinkles and bearing horrible twisted looking skin, his incomplete manifested form was completely different from the other supreme devils.
'This pressure!!'
Nacht clenched his teeth and balled his fists. 'Even though he has not done anything yet, it feels like I am about to be crushed!'
"All of you."
Lucifero suddenly spoke, not even directly looking at them.
Raising his finger towards the sky, the planet shuddered. Each bone, each sinew framing its cosmic body reacting to the presence that was Lucifero.
"Bow. Your. Heads."
Dropping his raised finger down. Power gushed from him, so unfathomably vast and deep that no human, elf, or otherwise could ever dream of comparing to it.
'Presence of the Demon King!!'
The air started to vibrate in response to the immensity of his mana.
Bang Bang
BANG!!
"Ngghhh!!"
"Arggghhh!!"
With such a simple gesture, an immense force exerted itself upon the world forcing the humans and nearby buildings to the ground.
Even the Spade Castle which withstood multiple Supreme Devil battles was crushed.
It was pure, overwhelming power.
"That's... Insane."
Watching what just happened, sweat trickled down the side of Yami's face.
But contrary to others, Alex was unfazed under the pressure, standing like a king.
Watching the others kneeling on the ground during to high gravitational power, Alex's lips tilted upward into a sadistic grin.
"You sure have some tricks up your sleeve but... that's all..."
'Monarch Domain: Null!'
Instantly the darkness spread from under his feet and covered almost half of the capital.
Everyone under his domain found themselves taking a sigh of relief as the monstrous pressure from the King of Devil vanished in thin air.
"Hah, I almost forgot that we also have a Monster on our side too," Yami jumped to his feet and gripped the hilt of his katana as the Dark Magic covered the blade.
'Hellfire Incarnate!'
Crashing her fists together, Mereoleona ignited herself into flames as he stood beside Yami, wanting to clash with the King of Devil's, Lucifero.
"Ohoho." Dorothy laughed as Rill's paintbrush flared to life.
"Looks like we're gonna be the ones to save the day."
"Just don't hold me back." Jack laughed as the mana blades that had cut through Dante's regeneration made another appearance on his body.
"Hmmph! Our subordinates are watching, don't embarrass us."
Assuming her Queen of Briar's form, Charlotte also stepped forward.
"Oh man, this is awesome!"
Fueled by the seriousness of the current situation, Rill's grimoire snapped wide open.
"King of Devils? Captains fighting together? I can feel my creativity rising!"
Thrusting his paintbrush into the air, a smile adorned his face.
"Yeah, with this... I'M GONNA PAINT A MASTERPIECE!"
With the pages of his grimoire fluttering non-stop, a new spell began to manifest on an empty page.
'Painting Magic: Twilight of Valhalla!'
Swiping his brush through the air, an illusionary building big enough for the fire spirit Salamander to coil itself around the roof was created.
"This fight, we'll win!!"
Looking at their momentum, anyone would feel their blood boiling, wanting to witness the all-out battle of all the captains fighting together with Lucifero.
But a cold and distant voice interrupted the momentum of the captains.
"I said... who asked you weaklings to butt in?!"
Just as the voice landed, both Fuegoleon and Mereoleona's flames vanquished, Yami's dark magic was completely suppressed, and all the other magic captains also faced the same situation.
They did not realize when but Alex passed by them and stood in front of them. With each step he took, the darkness seemed to swirl around him forming a barrier. His aura continued to rise and he was slowly undergoing some sort of transformation.
The time seemed to have slowed down and all the captains could feel that Alex was different but they could not imagine how.
Only Mereoleona's eyes narrowed and beads of sweat formed on her forehead.
The others might be unfamiliar with what's going on but she was not. She had experienced it once and quickly shouted out anxiously.
"Fuegoleon, whatever happens, do not interfere! It goes for everyone!! Do not move a muscle..."
"S-Sister, what's going on with Asta? Why is he doing this...? If we all attack together we have a higher chance of defeating Lucifero." Fuegoleon was clearly not happy with Alex's actions and grumbled in annoyance.
"That bastard! Even if he is the Magic Emperor, he can't do this." Yami also complained.
Mereoleona glared at the both of them and shouted. "Shut up! He is not Asta that we all know now..."
"What do you mean by that?"
"Yeah, what the hell kind of shit are you talking about, Sisgoleon?"
"Mereoleona, what is going on with Asta? His mana, it feels different..."
While the others were complaining and grumbling, Charlotte as Alex's woman was very familiar with his mana but currently, it felt different.
Originally, Alex's mana felt chaotic and yet weirdly calm at the same time. Only rarely when he was either very excited or agitated did they feel a sinister vibe from it.
But now, Charlotte could feel that Alex's mana had turned cold and dangerous. As his aura continued to rise, the chaotic energy in his body began to stir and grew stronger and stronger.
Mereoleona narrowed her eyes and spoke slowly. "Actually, no one knows but Asta has a second personality. A personality that rarely surfaces during his fights with strong people. You might have noticed it during his fights when he became a little crazy."
Hearing her words, everyone thought carefully and realized that what Mereoleona said was true, they had also noticed some changes in Alex's behavior when that happened.
"Did you mean...?"
"Yes, I only know it because I had spent the most time with him both in training and..." She paused and stared at Alex's back before continuing. "Now, Asta has perceived Lucifero as far too dangerous than others and his second personality has resurfaced. He stopped us from charging forward because somewhere in his heart he knew that we could actually die so he had blocked our magic with his domain..."
"Also, Asta has a blood feud with Lucifero. The King of Devils had killed his mother so... he doesn't want us to interfere."
Everyone heard her and dropped the idea of stepping in.
Even though some of them were reluctant but with Alex's domain activated, they could not access their magic.
And without it, they were no different from lambs on the slaughter board.
