BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
The air trembled with the force of every punch, every kick, and every impact that shook the training ground. Dust swirled in chaotic patterns as Naruto and Sasuke launched a relentless assault on their masked opponent.
Kakashi Hatake, however, was no ordinary Jonin. His movements were fluid, precise, and deceptively effortless as he parried their blows with a calm, calculating gaze.
A knee came toward his ribs—Naruto's. He twisted his body just in time to deflect it with his forearm.
A spinning kick from the other side—Sasuke's. Kakashi barely managed to block it, feeling the raw power behind the Uchiha's strike.
These brats… they're synchronized.
Naruto and Sasuke had been sparring with each other since they were seven. They didn't need words, signals, or plans in the heat of battle—they just moved. When one attacked, the other followed up. When one defended, the other covered their blind spot. It was complete trust.
For the first time in a long while, Kakashi felt pressure.
He dodged, parried, and countered, but he found himself constantly reacting. There was no room to breathe, no window to launch a counterattack.
And that was dangerous.
Kakashi exhaled sharply. "You guys are seriously strong."
His tone was light, but his eye was sharp. "So strong that I have no choice but to do this."
Naruto and Sasuke halted for half a second, sensing something dangerous.
Then Kakashi reached for his forehead protector.
With a single motion, he lifted it, revealing his left eye. A crimson iris with three spinning tomoe.
"Sharingan?!" Sasuke's voice was filled with shock and disbelief.
Naruto's eyes narrowed. Damn it!
They had the upper hand—until now.
Kakashi smirked beneath his mask. "You should have retreated the moment I touched my headband."
Naruto gritted his teeth. "Sasuke, fall back—now!"
Without hesitation, he grabbed a handful of smoke bombs and threw them at the ground.
POOF!
A thick cloud of smoke erupted, covering their retreat.
Kakashi remained still, watching the smoke dissipate.
"Smart move," He murmured.
Reaching into his pocket, he pulled out his beloved orange book, flipping it open casually.
"Too bad I won't have time to read now…" He sighed, closing it again before looking toward the direction they had fled.
Near the bushes, Naruto and Sasuke reappeared, landing silently among the trees.
The moment they stopped, Sakura rushed to their side. "Naruto-sama, Sasuke-kun! Are you okay?"
Naruto waved off her concern. "We're fine, but Kakashi just got a whole lot more dangerous."
Sasuke clenched his fists. "The Sharingan…"
His voice was low, but the frustration was clear. "How does he have our clan's eye?"
His anger simmered beneath the surface. The Uchiha's Sharingan was a sacred power, a symbol of their clan's might. So why did an outsider have it?
Naruto placed a firm hand on Sasuke's shoulder. "Calm down, Sasuke."
Sasuke inhaled sharply, then exhaled, steadying himself. "You know something, don't you? Explain."
Naruto nodded. "It's not stolen. There was a Uchiha in my dad's old team—his name was Obito Uchiha."
Sasuke's eyes widened slightly. He had heard that name before.
Naruto continued. "Obito gave his left eye to Kakashi before he died. It was his last gift. Your father knew about it and gave his blessing as clan head."
Sasuke remained silent for a moment. Then, slowly, he let go of his tension. "Tch. Fine."
Sakura, who had been listening quietly, spoke up. "But that still means Kakashi-sensei is stronger now, right?"
Naruto smirked. "Oh, he was always strong. He's famous across the Five Great Nations as the 'Copy Ninja' because of that eye. His mastery over the Sharingan is no joke."
Sasuke frowned. "Then how do we beat him?"
Naruto grinned. "With strategy."
He crossed his arms. "The Sharingan has weaknesses. It can predict movements, sure. But it has one big flaw—"
Sasuke's eyes sharpened. "What?"
"It can't tell the difference between a real person and a shadow clone."
Sasuke's expression shifted to realization. "Because clones share chakra equally…"
Naruto nodded. "Even the Byakugan can't see the difference. That's the best part of the technique."
Sakura's eyes widened. "So if you use clones—"
"Exactly." Naruto grinned. "I'll flood the field with clones and rush him from every direction. He won't be able to tell which one is the real me."
He turned to Sasuke. "And when one of my clones gets close enough, that's when you strike. Use the Fire Jutsu from the other day. Hit him with everything you've got."
Sasuke smirked. "Hmph. Not bad."
"Also," Naruto continued, "this is a good chance for you to get used to your Sharingan. Try using it to track his movements better. You won't master it in one day, but you'll get a feel for it."
Sasuke's smirk widened. "Fine. Let's do it."
Sakura nodded eagerly. "I'll be ready with the traps!"
Naruto grinned. "Then let's go."
Back in the clearing, Kakashi stood in the same spot, his hands lazily resting in his pockets.
"So?" he called out. "Are you kids done hiding?"
Silence.
Rustle!
The bushes around him shook.
Kakashi's eyes narrowed. Here they come.
Poof!
A dozen Narutos burst onto the field, each one charging from different angles.
Kakashi smirked. "Shadow Clones, huh?"
He flickered forward, dodging a punch from one Naruto—only for another clone to appear behind him, kicking at his back.
He ducked.
A third clone swiped at his legs.
Kakashi twisted his body mid-air and flipped over them.
But then a fourth clone grabbed his arm.
Before he could shake it off.
"Fire Style: Phoenix Flame Jutsu!"
A barrage of small but deadly fireballs rained toward him.
Kakashi's visible eye widened. Crap.
He yanked his arm free and leaped back just in time.
BOOM!
The ground exploded in flames. The heat scorched the air as smoke billowed skyward.
Naruto smirked. "Sasuke, did we get him?"
Sasuke activated his Sharingan, scanning the area. "No. He dodged at the last second."
"Tch." Naruto clicked his tongue.
Then a voice whispered behind them.
"That was close."
Naruto and Sasuke spun around.
Too late...
Kakashi appeared in a flash, one hand gripping Naruto's shoulder, the other pressing against Sasuke's back.
"Nice teamwork," Kakashi said, "but you still have a long way to go."
Then a book suddenly opened in his free hand.
Plop!
"Now then," Kakashi sighed, "where was I? Ah, right… 'The man gently lifted her chin, his lips inches from hers…'"
Naruto's eye twitched. "…ARE YOU SERIOUSLY READING RIGHT NOW?!"
Sasuke, for the first time, looked genuinely insulted.
Sakura, from her hiding spot, clenched her fists. "This pervert…!!"
And thus, the real battle began.
