Chapter 6: Unexpected encounter

As Feng Tan eating his meal at the table, Chris found himself lost in thought while staring at the girl behind the counter. He knew that he saw her somewhere.

'Ah! Isn't that the girl who was disoriented right after waking up in the hospital? The one who asked me the date. No wonder she looks familiar.' Recalled Chris after pondering for a few minutes.

Click A sound of a camera shutter could be heard.

"Uncle, what are you looking at? You didn't even blink," remarked the mischievous Feng Tan, amused by his uncle's behavior and eager to share it with the family.

"Wow! What has caught Chris's eye?" inquired his second uncle Lu.

"A girl," replied Feng Tan casually, munching on his wings.

Then Feng Tan's grandmother, Aunt Cherry, chimed in, "Oh my god! Is that Chris? But Xiao Feng Tan, why are you still awake at this time?"

"FENG TAN, WHAT ARE YOU EATING AT THIS HOUR!!" text-yelled Feng Ming at his son. "You're in big trouble," he added.

"Feng Tan, you better stop eating right now!" urged his mother.

Before Feng Tan could respond to his grandmother, he was bombarded with texts from his parents.

Little did he know, Chris had secretly taken a picture of him enjoying his wings, with a tray of half-eaten food in front of him and a large coke beside him, and sent it to Feng Ming.

Feng Tan shuddered in fear knowing he was in big trouble. Glancing at his uncle Chris, he realized he had been set up.

"Uncle, really! You're such a blabbermouth. Didn't we promise to keep this a secret?" Feng Tan protested.

"Heh," snorted Chris.

' I didn't even say more than one word, how could I be labeled a blabbermouth? He's the one who talks too much,' Chris thought to himself.

Chris raised his eyebrow and glared at Feng Tan for a solid 3 minutes before Feng Tan finally giving up and getting up to wash his oily hands. He knew that if he continued eating, this evil uncle would definitely report to his parents.

As Feng Tan got up to wash his hands, Chris's phone started ringing. His eyes twitched, foreboding an off feeling.

It's grandma!

Chris held his temple with one hand as he answered the call.

"Chris! You have a girlfriend? What's her name? When are you bringing her home for us to meet? When did you guys start dating? You didn't even tell me you already have a partner. If Feng Tan is not there, when will you let us know? Eh? When did you boys go out? Didn't you guys already go to your room after dinner?" Grandma asked in rapid succession.

Chris was speechless. He didn't even know where to start. How was he going to explain to grandma that she was nobody to him? He didn't even know her name.

"Grandma, she is not my girlfriend," Chris began to explain. However, before he could continue, he heard his grandma yell, "You stinky brat! You're still trying to hide her? Humph!!"

"Uncle, sister is here for you!" shouted Feng Tan ambiguously as he arrived at the table, holding Alice's hand. He had seen from afar that his uncle was on the phone, and judging from his face, he bet it might be great grandma.

'You set me up, huh! Now let's see how you explain this to great grandma,' Feng Tan sneered.

On the other hand, Alice was stunned. She felt like she was being played by this cheeky boy. She had only agreed to come to their table because Feng Tan had asked her to help him pack the leftover food.

She didn't expect him to shout loudly when they arrived at the table.

"Sorry… let.." Alice opened her mouth to ask for permission to pack the leftovers. But before she could say anything else, she was cut off by a loud voice over the phone.

"You brat! You better treat that girl right. Look, she sounds scared. What will you do if your wife runs away?" Grandma's voice was so loud it leaked out from the phone. Others might not have heard, but for the three of them, it was clear as day.

Things got awkward. Alice's face turned red. She had never found herself in this kind of situation before. It seemed like there was a bit of a misunderstanding.

Chris decisively ended the call and dragged Feng Tan out. He couldn't stand being there any longer. There was no change on his cold, handsome face, but if you looked closely, you could see the tip of his ear turning red.

Alice noticed that. She was tickled by the situation. Before she could even ask if they still wanted the food, Chris and Feng Tan had dashed out.

'Oh well, it's not my business,' Alice shrugged. She proceeded to clean the table and got back to work.
