A Phoenix's Might (pt.2)

Flap.

Alexander rose into the air and looked down at the demonic bear. In his head, Alexander was already cursing the pitiful creature.

'Ha! To think a lowlife like you is thinking it can harm this glorious phoenix,' he sneered, and let out an angry noise of his own as his feathers burned brighter.

Giving a casual glance down, Alexander almost nodded in satisfaction. His master always needed someone to be by her side, and he was not that person.

'How can I be? I have no patience to deal with children.'

Although Vian was stronger than him, Alexander was a phoenix. Those creatures rose from the ashes after being burnt; which meant this life of his was not the first.

The phoenix had already been in several lifetimes before.

In addition, although he had never meant to hurt his master, Alexander lost control several times. He was a divine beast– an existence that refused to even listen to heaven.

Thus, whenever Vian tried to order him for difficult things, or whenever she was starting to act a bit cocky…

'I had no chance but to not listen.'

As if it had enough, the demonic bear launched itself against the phoenix. Its claw was dripping with acidic venom.

Swoosh-

Swinging its arm at a fast speed caused a gust of wind to accompany the attack, the venom flew toward Alexander, but he dodged it without difficulty.

If he was strong enough for his current body to speak, perhaps Alexander would have been already showering the pathetic beast with insults.

The poor beast did not know how its simple attempt to attack the phoenix and turning it into a delicious meal, felt more insulting than terrifying for its supposed victim.

The supposed victim dodged the bear's attack without effort, letting it roar in rage as it flailed around, trying to capture him or hurt him.

Alastor watched curiously, he had not seen one of those familiars fighting alone before. Vian, on the other hand, seemed to be used to her phoenix's temperament as he kept toying with the demonic bear.

'He is not really fighting, the little phoenix is only dodging the attacks. Perhaps he thinks that the opponent is not fitting for him?'

Which was not something unexpected, given that Little Alexander was a phoenix. Aside from dragons, they were the noblest and the most prideful beasts.

'I wonder how much his master is resembling him,' he thought curiously. Thinking about it once more, he was surprised that Vian did not seem like that.

At least in front of him, she was nothing like a phoenix. However, she was indeed fierce when needed, not that Alastor knew everything yet.

If he knew about what she have done to that corpse, Alastor was surely about to change his whole attitude with the young woman.

Alexander noticed that the beast was weakened already, and started to wonder about what he was supposed to do now.

'This bear is almost useless, not only does it lack many capabilities, it is also quite stupid. Is there anything I can take from it?'

The phoenix observer calmly. The reason behind letting the demonic bear fight alone was that Alexander needed to figure out if there was anything he could take from it.

If there was none, then burning it to death was always an option. And just like that, he also saved his power and energy.

'And if it had anything, I simply gauge it out and burn it to death.'

The decision was not so hard to take.

Alexander was getting ready to attack at last, only for the demonic bear to get up on its hind legs and let out a loud roar.

Its already dark fur turned to a pitch black shade, and its mouth started to let out some steam. With another roar, a fireball started to form in front of its face.

'Hmm?'

Alexander paused his attack, witnessing how a gemstone appeared on top of its head.

"Oh my, is that thing an idiot?" Alastor laughed in disdain.

Vian silently agreed, thinking that someone was stupid enough to try fighting a phoenix with a fire element was nothing but stupidity.

"Such a stupid beast."

They both had yet to see what was now on top of the bear's head. Alexander, however, was already aware and sped up across the air toward it.

At the same time, the fireball headed straight against him and soon enough, engulfed Alexander in one go.

The bear thought it was about to win, only to be frozen in its place.

Instead of getting hurt at all, Alexander absorbed the flames and opened his beak, an even larger fire force gathered.

A huge fireball appeared in front of him, and with some flaps of his wings, the fireball was heading at a terrifying speed towards the beard.

"Kyaaackkkkk!!!!"

The demonic bear weeped and tried to run, the searing heat from the fireball was torturing it alive. But that was not enough, Alexander flew toward the squirming bear and dug the gemstone from its head, causing it to scream even louder.

"Wow…"

"He is a bit too blunt, haha?"

Alastor was amazed.

The phoenix soon landed in front of him, and dropped the gemstone to the ground before soaring into the sky again.

Alexander spread his wings and let the fire shine brighter, as if warning the other monsters and beasts in the area from trying to even come closer.

"Such a mighty phoenix, huh."

The phoenix, the symbol of divine existence on earth, was now showing up in this strange, unfamiliar place.

Alexander's gaze locked with Alastor's, causing the latter to smirk.

'Not only is he mighty, but his overall character and behaviors are more than amazing.'

A phoenix showing off its might.

Alastor liked that scene quite a lot.
