CHAPTER SIXTEEN: JOAN AGAIN

I am sorry for the late update... I have been quite busy throughout the week. I
will try to continue and be more frequent as usual)
"Who is Daniel to you?" Joan asked from nowhere startling my friends and me
"Are you talking to one of us?" Morayo asked looking at Joan in a way that shows that she doesn't like Joan at all
"Who else do you think I am referring to when you see that I am standing in front of you three?" Joan asked in a very rude way
"Let's go" Morayo said to us annoyed by the way Joan responded to her question. Victoria and I decided to follow her when Joan stopped me by holding my wrist
"What do you want?" I asked her surprised by the way she held my hands without thinking twice
"I wasn't referring to them but to you. You can wait to answer my question" Joan spoke with words that irritate me
"What is wrong with the girls the school board admitted to grade seven? Few of them are supposed to be beaten everyday because of their lack of senses" Morayo said as she heard what Joan said
"Don't put me to this because I am not going to fight for a boy I don't like with you" I said as I jerked her hand off my wrist annoyed by how tightly she held my wrist
Joan glared me and then at Morayo
"What it is with you? Aren't you satisfied with the punishment you received just because you fought with her cousin because of the same guy? Why can't you be like your brother but instead you are here doing something so shameful" Morayo blurted out at Joan, the way Morayo talked to her showed that she hates people who are rude and are not even ashamed of the bad things they do
"What is your problem? Did I mention your name? Did I talk to you, busybody?" Joan said to Morayo annoyed by the way she insulted her
"You obviously know that all I spat out to you is the truth besides, the girl you are disturbing now is my friend and we are planning to eat in the dining hall" Morayo said as she walked closer to Joan and held my hand so we can leave at once
My dream of having good friends came to pass. A friend that supports and fights for me like Morayo and also, a friend that behaves mature, that advises and comforts me like Victoria
I smiled inwardly as I followed Morayo and Victoria to the dining hall leaving Joan behind. I didn't bother to look back at her because Joan deserves that kind of words in her since she is behaving like one
"I hope she changes from that behavior" Victoria said as we walked into the dining hall
"She can't change, it is already obvious that she isn't going to heed to what I said to her" Morayo said as we walked to a vacant table and sat on the bench waiting for students occupy the space so we can get our food
"Are you cursing her?" Victoria asked as I laughed at the words
"I am not, I am just saying the truth" Morayo shrugged as she watched the girls coming to occupy our table
"By the way, I just hope that we eatrice and not Semolina because I am seeing Semolina on those tables now" Morayo said looking the table that are already collecting their foods
"It is obvious we will eat Semolina with Egusi for lunch" Victoria said as she also looked at the tables that are already collecting their foods
"I don't care whatever we are given to eat as far it is not horrible" I shrugged as I looked at the senior that dropped a big cooler on the edge of our table and left to get something
"Well, their Semolina aren't bad, it is just that I wish to eat rice at the moment" Morayo said as she saw the senior arrange the plates on the table so she can serve food into them
"You better manage what you are given and if you don't want to eat it, my mouth is available for more food" Victoria said as we collected our food from the senior
"Who said I won't eat it?" Morayo said as she ate from the food given to her by the senior
"Just saying" Victoria shrugged as she also ate from her food
"Yum, this is very good" I said as I ate another one from my plate because of the sweetness
"You must really like anything swallow*" Morayo said as she ate from her plate again
(*- swallow is what Nigerian call food you swallow instead of chew like Amala (yam flour), garri and rest like that)
"Who doesn't like swallow? I do love them all except from eba (hot soaked garri)" I said as I drank from my water
"Really? You hate eba? You are really missing a lot" Morayo said as she ate the last bite from her plate and drank from her water
"Lol" I said "are you guys done so we can go to the hostel?" I asked looking at Morayo and Victoria whether they are also done with their food
"I am really getting to enjoy this school" I smiled as we walked out of the dining hall and walked to the hostel
"Really? Today is just your second day in this school" Victoria said as we picked our bags from the solar building and walked into their already opened hostel
"Yes and I guess it is because of their foods" I answered as we walked into our rooms
"This school is not only about their foods but about their studies and most especially the seniors in this junior school and senior school" Morayo said as we walked to our bed
"Last junior!" somebody called fromoutside
