CHAPTER THIRTY FOUR: YOU ARE LYING

CHAPTER THIRTY FOUR: YOU ARE LYING

When I got to my room, I met Morayo eating garri and kuli kuli (I have actually forgotten what Nigerians call kuli kuli in English but, I know that kuli kuli is related to groundnut. Nigerians just call it, it is a very common name and snacks in Nigeria)

Garri actually satisfy someone quickly and I love that about garri

Garri is a traditional meal for the Yorubas, English call Garri, cassava flakes which sounds boring

Garri can made into Eba (I don't think there is any English word for Eba)

There was even one time, I ate Garri mixed with sugar, groundnut and evaporated milk with fried fish along side. Oh mehn, when that garri swell up, I ate everything till I couldn't take it anymore.

It seems, I will take Garri with sugar, groundnut and milk (the non evaporated one)

I don't have kuli kuli to eat with it at all. It is not actually disappointing since I am hungry right now

As I was eating my garri, Victoria entered. I wonder what took her long before she entered the room

"What took you long?" I asked as soon as I swallowed the garri in my mouth

"Went to buy these" She said showing me her other hand

I looked at the other hand and saw that she is holding a small black nylon containing what I don't know about yet

"Is today garri festival?" She asked jokingly as she sat on her bed

"Lol, what do you mean by that?" I asked smiling before I took another spoon from my garri

"If you see girls with garri, girls drinking garri, in locker room, some were even drinking it there, some were even taking it from their locker, the floor is even filled with garri crumbs in the corridor" She said as she emptied the black nylon

She bought Fanta and five coaster biscuits

Fanta is a very common and most drank drinks in Nigeria

Coaster biscuit is also common and popular snacks, for the way it makes some Nigerians satisfied after three or five of them and then taken with water or whatever liquid

"Lol, many girls must be very hungry as I am also and also Morayo" I said to her before taking another spoon from my garri again

"I don't really like garri like that but, I eats them" Victoria stated.

"That is a loss from your side" I said jokingly "how will you say you don't like it and you are a Nigerian?" I asked her

"I don't know, I just know that I don't really like it"

"Hey!" A girl said interrupting Victoria and I conversation

I turned to see who is that and yeah, just who I was expecting , Vanessa!

"I am sure you ate in dining?" Victoria asked her already concluding

"No" She answered straight forwardly

"Vanessa, why are you lying?" A girl sitting on her bed next to Victoria's bed busted Vanessa

"Yes, I already ate. It must be a slip of tongue when I said no" She said with a smile

I turned to look at Victoria, our eyes met and I knew she was already thinking if what Morayo and I told her earlier so, I gave her the 'I told you so' look

I even wondered why she lied. Is she here to form another lie so that, Victoria can give her something to eat?

"So, what are you doing here?" Victoria asked

Vanessa was taken aback by Victoria's question

Lol, I am sure Victoria is disappointed by what she said

"Uhmn... I am here to check on you guys if you are ready to go wash your clothes" She said

This time, I don't even know if she is lying. I am sure that is what Victoria will also think

"Vanessa, we even have something to tell you" I said to her, as if alerting her. Lol!

"What? I am all ears" She said ready to hear

"Wait, Morayo is the one that wants to even tell you" I said to her as I diverted my eyes from her to Morayo

Morayo was even looking at our side all along, so, I called her to come over here

She came without any hesitation at all

"Is it about the thing?" She asked as she looked at me immediately, she got here

"Yeah, it is about what we wanted to tell her" I answered her

"Okay" She responded as she turned to face Vanessa "I don't think you can be walking with us anymore" Morayo said as she hit the nail on the wall not even trying to beat around the bush

I wish I can be more like her in stances like that. Lol!

"What? Why?" Vanessa asked confused by what she heard, she looked at Morayo with a confused expression before looking at us

"You cannot be trusted" Morayo answered again not beating around the bush

"What do you mean by that?" Vanessa asked again confused even the more

"You are a liar" Morayo said again not even trying to beat around the bush

This time, I so most laughed but, held it since no one looks as if she wanted to laugh. I don't want to be the weird one

"Liar? Is it because of what I said now?" Vanessa asked again not understanding what Morayo meant by that

"What did you say? I didn't hear it" Morayo admitted

"She lied that she hadn't eaten whereas, she had" I answered Morayo not even hesitating as well

Vanessa looked at me also surprised by my action. Surprised? She shouldn't be

"Oh, why would you even lie?" Morayo asked her giving her a disgust look

"I said, it was a slip of tongue" she said

"And you think that is believable?" Morayo asked her with an eyebrow raised

"I don't know what else to say then?" Vanessa said shrugging

"Urgh... I don't even like you to be honest" Morayo broke out again as she sat on Victoria's bed

"I don't care if you don't like me"
