CHAPTER FIFTY THREE: CAN WE START AFRESH?

"Hello! Happy Friday!" he said with a smile as he waved at me

Yeah! It was Friday. Five days after resumption.

I remember telling Victoria and Morayo all I heard from Samuel about what Daniel said and…

"Whatever Daniel says, don't believe him! If he loves you, he won't go around dating your cousin" Morayo said

"Yeah, for the first time today. You are correct, Morayo" Victoria commented

"He said that to Samuel as if he really does love me whereas, he is playing me?"

"See, it is not a question. He is playing you, period!" Victoria advised

"What if…

"… There isn't what if! It is only a fool that will believe whatever he says excluding Samuel, of course!" Morayo said

They really do have a point there and there was no how I wasn't going to agree with them. They speak the truth!

"Same" I said as I made way to walk pass him

"Wait, don't you think we should have a normal discussion? We haven't had any discussion since years" he said as he turned to face me

"You know why. Besides, what on earth do you want to say that is so important? If it isn't then, I will leave without second thought"

"If you hate me because, I ignored you while I was in China then you got to rethink. I had my reason"

"Oh reason, what did Samuel call it again? Love fright." I said as I turned to look at him with a smile

"Samuel already told you, I did expect him to. He must have told you everything"

"Yeah, he told me all your lies. Like, do you think I am a daft to ever believe you?" I asked with a serious expression

"Listen, all he said is the truth. I didn't forget you. I told your brother to greet you every single night, didn't he deliver those messages? Because, that was the only reason I chatted him up" he admitted with a sincere look

My brother did tell me that but, I thought he was joking because my brother always laughs while saying that.

I was also thinking my brother says that so, I will stop worrying about Daniel ignoring me.

I still don't want to believe him as Morayo and Victoria said. If he still loves me, he wouldn't have dated my spoilt cousin.

He knows she is my cousin for crying out loud.

"Your brother didn't deliver my messages? I thought he did because…"

"… He delivered it! What if he did? It never changes the fact that you ignored me"

"I have said my reason, Flower" he said calling me by my nickname

"Don't ever call me that! Only people that I give permission to call me to, calls me that." I warned him with a glare. I just can't stand him calling me by that

"Sorry. Can we start afresh?" he asked knowing all his pleas are falling into deaf ears

I looked at him and sighed

"See, I have forgiven you but, don't ever put your hopes high that I am still falling for you. Period!" I said

"We are friends now? Does that mean we will be talking frequently?" he asked with a smile

"Friends? Let me just put it as normal classmates and we can talk little talks. Bye for now!" I said not waiting for him to say any other word again

Samuel did resume the upcoming Sunday and it was nice to have him back.

Although, there was something off about him that I cannot figure out

About John and me, we became friends and he told me things. Victoria crush for him became stronger and before they knew they started dating grade 8 (junior secondary school 2) first term.

Everything went in a flash and now, I am in grade eight (junior secondary school two)

I remembered celebrating my tenth birthday at home, not in school. Besides, not many of my friends know about my birthday

Daniel came to my house with his family to greet me, happy birthday along with giving me presents. I had to accept it to let bygones be bygones

Samuel also gifted me. Victoria and Morayo called me over the phone to wish me.

At least, they did make my day.

"Did you hear that he repeated?" Morayo said as we entered the hall to check for which classes we might be in

"Yeah, seven students from our set repeated J.S.S. one" I said as I smiled when I saw in the list that, we were in the same class

"Do you think they will still come to school?" Morayo asked curiously

"I don't know but, if I were the one I won't come again" I said as we stepped out of the hall to get to our class

"Besides, what was your position last term?" Morayo asked curiously

"I got third." I answered

"You are always getting third."

"When I have two lovers ahead of me nko?" I asked as I looked at Victoria

"Victoria, what did you get?" Morayo asked

"I don't know why I dropped but, I will do better. I got forth. What about you?" she asked as she turned to face Morayo

"I got seventeenth" she answered

"We read together, why do you always get that?" I asked her not really happy with it

"At least, I improved. From twenty first to seventeenth" Morayo shrugged

"Yeah, you try! Out of fifty seven students in the class" Victoria said as we picked a seat to sit down in the class

We chose the chairs at the edge. The three seat(er) chairs instead of the two

"At least, this place is better than our former class that only had two seat (er) chairs" Morayo said as she chose to seat at the end.

"I hope John is in this class" Victoria hoped as she sat inside after Morayo did.

"No worries, your prayer will be answered" I gave her hope as I sat at the other end as well

I hope grade eight (junior secondary school two) goes well.
