I gaze out over the water and listen to it rushing over the rocks I was standing on top of a cliff, which overlooked a beautiful waterfall. It was peaceful and relaxing. Like, I was wishing my life would be. I hope to find peace and my place in this world. A large part of me knows that I messed up with Allie. I know she deserves better than me. I was a monster. I have watched this vampire kill too many people, too many creatures that I could have saved.
I took a small step forward, contemplating whether to jump off or not. I could easily jump off and put an end to everything. Would I be reincarnated into something more worthy?
"I think that's a bad choice."
My eyes turn around and I see another werewolf. Although he was in human form, I knew he was a werewolf. I sense that he is an Alpha, my mind's eye showing my wolf bowing to him.
"Cricket?" I hear a tiny little female voice.
"Come here," I hear him call to her and I watch as she clings to his arm.
"I think you both should go," I hiss.
I can never harm either of them, but I don't think my company will give it a second thought.
"I have a mission, and I'm not leaving till it's complete."
"And that is what?"
For a moment, he stares at me, apparently trying to gain my trust. "To kill that vampire Ivana."
I feel my mouth drop open and my heart sinks.
I just nod. She is wrong, not these wolves.
"And the man, who is a wolf but is against us."
"You're referring to my father and my girlfriend."
I watch him move the girl behind him. "So you're an enemy?"
Although I didn't want to end the chapter with the vampire, it was time to move on. I know it must be done, they need to be stopped and I don't have the heart to stop them. I watch them kill so many innocent beings. This must stop and I know it. I swallow hard trying to choke down all the pain I feel.
"I won't stop you but I won't help you."
"You let me kill your family?" I see his eyebrow raised, his mouth dropped open.
"Family is a loose term for me. I do care about the vampire but, I know what she is doing is evil and I won't be able to stop her myself. Unlike my father, we never had a relationship."
He nods. "Is she a mate or your girlfriend?"
"She's not my mate." With my answer, I could have saved her, werewolves don't kill each other's mates. It's against our code wiring and our rules.
A moment later, I sat on a nearby rock. This wasn't the first time I stood by and listened to somebody get harmed and not stand up for them. But this time deep in my heart, I knew I was doing it for the right reasons.
I hear Ivana's screams for me and it was an agonizing cry. She was terrified. I could hear it in her voice. Her scared cries turn into whimpers of pain. I cover my ears and pace to calm myself. My Father huffed in pain, but I never heard him call for me probably because he knew better.
What seems like hours later but, I know it was only a matter of minutes, I see the wolves appear covered in blood.
I analyzed the girl's arm and I know she was hurt. Not too terrible and her wolf should be able to heal the wound.
"Thanks for doing the right thing. I know that wasn't easy, so I made sure to make it quick."
I nod. I have nothing to say, well nothing rational.
"Join my pack, Smoke." I know he got the name from Ivana's cries and it sent shivers down my spine.
"I don't know."
"What do you have to lose?" He was right. I let him kill the people I was close to in the forest. Well, technically only Ivana.
"I guess, I'll give it a try."
"And if it doesn't work out, I'll give you full permission to leave."
I nod. I know I need his permission to leave the pack or I'll lose my wolf. Which wasn't a bad thing.
"I am so happy to have another male member." He laughs.
"One thing I don't want to talk about anymore is Ivana and my dad. It's too painful." I hear her cries in my head even while saying the statement.
He nods. "It's all settled then."
So I guess this is it. I'll start my journey with the Wolf-pack that I'm destined to be with and hope it'll last for eternity.
