The old man in tow with what looks to be two bodyguards, walks towards Nathan and Warlock.
As Nathan kept his silence, Warlock spoke to the old man, "Grandfather!"
Samuel Millers, the head and the founder of the Millers Corp. They are one of the biggest businesses in the country and a leading innovator of the automobile industries. He had divided his business with his sons and mostly remained behind the scenes. It was the first time that Nathan was able to meet Warlock's grandfather.
The presence of the old man really lived up to his stature.
"You're still not answering me brat, why did you bring him here?!" Warlock's grandfather questioned sternly.
"It's just a tomb, plus we'll just stay here. Can you let this slide for once." Warlock brought forth his pleading eyes resembling an abandoned puppy.
"You'll stay here my foot! I have known you since you were a baby, you can't trick me." The elderly harrumph as he ordered the two bodyguards to supervise Nathan and Warlock.
Meanwhile, Samuel went inside the tomb together with some men.
"Sorry about that, I wasted your time coming here. I really thought that I could convince him, but I didn't think what's inside is that important." Warlock dejectedly apologized.
Nathan on the other hand was not focused on the apology of Warlock but his gaze is locked onto the entrance of the tomb. It was mystical, there was kind of some force that was calling, and he felt that it was calling for him. The pressure the tomb gives off was different than Samuel, it was much more powerful.
This continued until Warlock broke his trance with a snap and waving in front of his head.
"Earth to Nathan, are you okay?" It was pretty noticeable that Nathan's attention was not towards Warlock.
"I didn't think you're that invested into it; It might just be me but at some point, you'll burn a hole towards the tomb, my grandfather would be lucky to survive that." Warlock joked but it was all stomped by a rumbling of the earth.
The people outside tried to regain composure as they lowered their body to adjust their core.
"Grandfather!" Warlock immediately remembered his grandfather.
"You're not allowed to, besides adding more casualties is such a stupid thing to do." One of the bodyguards reminded Warlock who was ready to sprint to the tomb.
They have been trained to rescue family members if there is a high chance of survival, but if the possibility is close to null, rescuing other members is the utmost priority
"What do you think I should do then; watch them all die underground!"
Seeing the state of Warlock, the other bodyguard went and struck him on the back of Warlock's neck. As the lower body went limp, Warlock closed his eyes.
The earthquake stopped and the guards let Warlock sleep, The guards also suggested vacating the area and requesting reinforcement. They also let Nathan join them.
Nathan agreed, though the earthquake that could've killed Samuel was lingering on his mind, his eyes looking couldn't help watching the tomb for the voices that were calling out for him, became louder.
The words that echoed in his mind started as the earthquake began, that's why despite such an accident, Nathan was at a loss as to what to do.
As he was about to take a step, the ground shook once again, even more powerful than the last one. Nathan and the rest immediately dropped to the ground, the guard carrying Warlock held him firmly so as to not wound him.
The earthquake only lasted a few moments before a bright light came out of the tomb, it lasted for a couple of seconds before disappearing.
After the flash of light, the blinded people outside opened their eyes and saw people walking out the tomb. Warlock's grandfather was with them.
"What happened here?" Warlock's grandfather asked as he saw Warlock lying unconscious.
"Did this bastard do it?!" The old man shouted as men with guns took aim towards Nathan. There was no such indication but since Nathan was the outsider, it was more logical to assume that he had done something, considering how trained the men from the Millers' family are.
Nathan closed his eyes as he subconsciously raised his hands. No matter how indifferent someone may seem, unless that person has no regards to death, their instinct to fear death remains evident.
As Nathan dropped to the ground, the bodyguards shouted to wait. They explained what just happened from the underground shaking to the bright light.
"Earthquake? You need to come up with a better lie than that, you even confessed that you struck my grandson!" The old man didn't buy what the guards had said, immediately ordering the men behind him to take aim towards the two guards.
"Can't believe even with that training, you have the gall to betray us, we have been very good to all of you and your family!"
At this point, Warlock began gaining consciousness.
"What happened?" With his eyes blurry, Warlock asked.
Warlock's grandfather ordered the guards to halt as he assessed what's happening.
"You're alright!" Warlock said happily as he saw the unscathed old man. The earthquake earlier has slightly traumatized Warlock.
"Did an earthquake really happen?" Samuel asked again.
"It was a big one at that, if they hadn't struck me, I would have followed. But, why are you asking me that, you should've felt it more clearly than we did. You were underground." Warlock questioned.
The old man was in deep thought, so were the men in his back who were looking at each other. He recalled what had happened inside the tomb.
As they entered the tomb, what greeted them with nothingness. It was a hallway that spanned like forever, they walked continuously. They didn't know how much time had passed but when they saw a light, they thought that they had finally reached the end of the tomb where all the secrets and treasures lie, but what awaited them was the outside.
The old man baffled on how they were able to arrive at the start point, there were no curves, no cut. They walked straight for how long and what awaited him and his men was his unconscious grandson. There was an outsider so he came to the conclusion that Nathan was somehow behind the predicament.
