Our first meeting!

One week, six hours and twenty minutes ago.

“Anna are you sure you can manage?” Steven asked her for the fifth time, ever since they arrived on the island. “Are you sure you can do this alone?”

“Yes. Steven, this is the moment I can finally put my thoughts together and know where I stand. I have to take this quest alone, and believe me once I do that I will surely change my mind set when I get back home.” She was certain that this adventure will surely put her back on track!

“I don’t doubt it.” He said. “It’s just that, I feel it’s a little unsafe for a girl to spend time alone on this deserted island.”

“Steven, I thought you said every island was a tourist attraction.”

“Yes, I also said that this island in particular was the least busy.”

“Oh, did you?”

“Really!” He knew that she was aware of that fact. And he respected her decision. She wanted some time alone and maybe it was the best choice for her. Steven always appreciated the way she thought. Maybe that’s why being the closest one to her father, he always felt protective around her. She was like her baby girl.

“I’m sure I can manage.” She assured him.

“Okay!” he finally gave in. “ I’ve already put on the tents. The foods are inside the smaller one and the other bags in the big one. And I hope you know that there’s no network on this island. So, note that I will be here exactly at nine the day after tomorrow to pick you up.” He added. “When you go for swimming don’t go overboard that line over there, it’s very dangerous.”

Of course as a fisherman, he was quite familiar of the danger looming around in the sea. He was quite a supporter since her father died. And she looked at him at every step of her life.

“Thank you Steven.” She hugged the latter. “ I will surely respect that.”

She stood on the white beach, staring at the horizon, as Steven fade away behind the dense pine trees. She took a longer breath. “Ok, no turning back.” She convinced herself. She was sure that she was going to have a really good time by herself. She bought as many books as she can. Her bags were filled with snacks and dried sandwiches and of course some cold drinks and juice she like to enjoy every once in a while. She rushed inside her tent, threw herself on the beach mattress she bought especially for this occasion. Hmmm, quite comfy! She thought.

Maybe a nice sleep would do her well. Especially when the wind is blowing so nicely, and the shadow of the pine trees, giving the tent a coolness. She yawned and closed her eyes to the sound of the waves clashing against the rocks.

It was already around one when she woke up. She rinse her face with water. Took a bite of buttered sandwich. Took her earphone and mp3, she thought of taking a tour around the island. She wore her white bikini, wrapped her white light cotton pareo. And she was barefoot. She felt the lightness as she walked on the sandy beach. Silence and peace was there. She really enjoyed that quietness. Finally it proved that her decision was a good one.

The island was really a beautiful one. It was a pity that it was not considered to be one of the main tourist attraction. Maybe because of the lagoon? She understood. The lagoon surrounded the island was not friendly one. And as she knew the sea was one of the most selling point in tourism industry.

As she walked around the bay, she noticed a white yacht, parked at the backside of the island. But the scene seemed deserted. Neighbors? She thought. Well, as long as they stay within their side, everything should go smoothly for her. She desired only a peaceful stay with her own thoughts. She walked on the warm water of the salted sea, going on the small rocky island that situated not far from the one she was. It felt nice to feel that water on her skin.

She paced alongside the rocks, revealing a perfect view of the backside of the island. The sea, white waves, clashing against the coral reefs, afar. Sound of the song – MY heart will go on, playing on her MP3, it was all that she wanted. Peace of mind and her soul conversing with nature. Everything that could keep her away from that stressful life she was living until now. Anna, was still mesmerized on her thoughts when all of a sudden , she saw a shadow standing right behind her. As she turned to see, her feet twinge on the wet rock she was standing on, she slipped and felt in the water.
