Chapter 19

Almost an hour later the village headman's son arrived with two officials from the district. The four troubled families saw that the elders had actually called the authorities and their faces turned pale. But the old women didn't intend to surrender easily. They threw themselves down, pretending to cry and become hysterical until they were annoyed.

The official who came was so angry at the senselessness of these people that he shouted that if he didn't stop he would arrest them all. So they stopped their mouths.

"You all know how much the royal court has helped you in the past. But now that you've returned, you want to take advantage by not paying back the money to buy the house and land. Is that even possible? I tell you that If today you guys refuse to pay I will take all of you to court so we can put an end to this matter once and for all. We don't have much time to care about your nonsense."

The officials spoke to the people angrily. The troublesome families looked at each other and discussed what to do. They spent a lot of the money they got from the previous sale while traveling. Even when they went to their relatives' house they didn't get their share of the food. They used the money to secretly buy and eat until now the money used to buy back the house and land is not enough. So they started this matter, thinking that the village headman wouldn't dare do anything to them. But who would have thought that this time the village headman would not let anyone take advantage of him anymore?

"Officer We also want to buy it back but are stuck because we don't have enough money. If you have some sympathy for black-eyed villagers like us. Can we pay in installments?"

"Wow, when you received the money, you all received it in a lump sum. But when you have to buy it back, you will ask for a waiver. Is there any law that would allow you to stop talking so long? I don't have much time. If you don't buy it, follow me to the district. Don't make me use force."

The official also refused to give in. He listened to the village headman's son tell the history of these four families all the way. So I know that these people are not good people. Another thing is during the recent drought. The village headman here has never caused any problems to the officials. They are therefore very impressed with the village headman's work. Anything that helps, they will help too.

The four families heard that there was no way to reconcile. So he could only ask the officials to go collect their belongings first and then go to the district together. If they were to return to those relatives' houses again, they would probably be chased away like pigs or dogs. I can't secretly stay here anymore because the matter has reached the authorities. So he was forced to obey the officials.

Ji Jiu and the villagers were relieved to see the officers' good attitude. If these people really stayed, their village would definitely be in chaos. Everyone knew how Ji Jiu was bullied before. But I'm sure that those people are too cruel to bear. They themselves could only secretly help Ji Jiu.

Almost two kilos The four families loaded their luggage onto a cart. The officials saw so many things and complained in their hearts. No wonder they were so hated by the villagers. I was transporting a lot of things even though I didn't have a place to live like this. He probably expected to be able to survive, so he dared to carry this much stuff.

"Alright, village headman, check to see if anyone in their family is missing. If not, I would have rushed them away."

The village head quickly inspected the four families. He found that the number of people who had come before and now were the same.

"No one is missing. You can take them away, sir. Thank you for your help today, officer."

"It's okay, this is our duty. We will leave first."

The officers divided up one front, one back, and immediately herded the four families and walked towards the district. At first, the village headman would send his son away, but the officials did not want to cause chaos. They said it would be better to go with these people. Prevent them from creating problems along the way.

The village headman and the villagers listened and saluted and thanked him and sent the officials out of the village.
